NFL Week 12: 10 Hot-to-Trot, Money-Making Tips

Dan TalintyreNov 24, 2011

After already watching the Green Bay Packers march on for another week against the Detroit Lions, the Dallas Cowboys almost fall to the resurgent Miami Dolphins and the Baltimore Ravens strangle the life out of the San Francisco 49ers, it's time for the rest of the weekend. And your money-making tips are here.

You don't have to take them. Nobody is forcing you. Except for me, because I know you'd be mad not to.

Arizona Cardinals @ St. Louis Rams

1 of 10

1. St. Louis (-3.5)

Arizona is playing the same quarterback game as Washington, just with even lower quality quarterbacks, if that were possible. St. Louis quarterback Sam Bradford and the offense were tipped by many to take the division this year, meaning that they'd take divisional games like the one against the Cardinals.

2. Under total points (take anything around 35-40)

Even if the over/under is 20 points, I'm going under in this one. Whoever plays for Arizona won't score more than a touchdown, and the Rams offense is not known for its high scoring, averaging a league low of 12 points per game. I'm not sure what's worse—the fact they're scoring 12 points per game, or the fact that I think they'll win with that.

Cleveland Browns @ Cincinnati Bengals

2 of 10

3. Cincinnati (-7.5)

Andy Dalton has possibly been the revelation of the year, and he proved it again last week, leading all passers with over 370 yards. Despite Cleveland's league-leading 166.5 passing yards allowed per game, Dalton will be too good for the Browns in this one. And he'll keep that little door of playoff hopes alive with it.

P.S.: What is a Brown, anyway?

Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars

3 of 10

4. Houston (-3.5)

Houston is without quarterback Matt Schaub, but against a woeful Jacksonville side, Arian Foster by himself will be enough to get the job done. Yes, I know you beat Baltimore—good on you. You're still going to get spanked in this one.

Carolina Panthers @ Indianapolis Colts

4 of 10

5. Carolina (3.5)

Cam Newton was not great against the Lions. I'm not sure if that had to do with the interceptions or Detroit stepping it up in defense. Neither of those will happen this week against the Colts. One week I'll tip them, I really will. Carolina won't want to be known as the first team to lose to Indy, though, and they won't have to.

Minnesota Vikings @ Atlanta Falcons

5 of 10

6. Atlanta (no line, just head-to-head)

I was tempted to take Minnesota with the start in this one, which is why I just want the Falcons head-to-head. Atlanta is one of those sides that can't seem to get all the gears working at the same time. Matt Ryan is inconsistent, but solid at the same time. And so I never know how they're going to play. No Adrian Peterson, though? Atlanta will do just fine.

Washington Redskins @ Seattle Seahawks

6 of 10

7. Washington (+4.5)

After almost upsetting Dallas last week, the Redskins have a chance to get a win here against Seattle in what could be a low-quality game. I like the 'Skins to grind out a win here, and maybe that field goal will go in this time. Rex Grossman beats Tarvaris Jackson. Not by much, but by enough.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Kansas City Chiefs

7 of 10

8. Pittsburgh (-9.5)

After watching Baltimore dominate the 49ers and move a step closer to winning the division, the Steelers need a statement game, and they've got a chance to put up some points and not allow many against a woeful Chiefs side. You might think the Chiefs were good hanging in there against the New England Patriots, but remember they still got beat by 30. Imagine what a Steelers side that goes from the whistle does to them.

New York Giants @ New Orleans Saints

8 of 10

9. Over total points (take anything around 47)

Eli Manning and the Giants will be aiming to stop the loss streak, and will have a comeback game to some extent, as the quarterback will puts points on the board. Putting points on the board just happens to be Drew Brees' specialty, however, and at home, on Monday Night Football, this one could be an offensive showdown.

Denver Broncos @ San Diego Chargers

9 of 10

10. Under total points (take anything around 45)

While these two staged a 53-point affair last time, Philip Rivers is not playing as well as he was back then, and Denver is running the ball all the time now. That means more time off the clock, and this game could be a grind-out affair. Tim Tebow is due to fail soon, and Rivers is due to bounce back soon. I think either scenario sees a low-scoring affair, as both teams' seasons may well and truly be on the line in this one.
