BCS Bowl Projections: LSU and Alabama Only Teams Deserving of BCS Title Shot
Sorry Arkansas fans, the only teams that deserve a shot at the BCS national championship are No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama, and nothing will change that.
The Tigers and Crimson Tide are far superior to the rest of the nation, and a rematch of their Nov. 5 overtime clash is necessary to prove which is the better team.
When Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and Oregon were all upset last week, it was quite clear that a rematch of SEC powers was needed to determine the best team in America.
Alabama and LSU are first and second, respectively, in the nation in points allowed per game, and are the only two teams giving up 10 or fewer points per contest.
Next year's NFL draft will be stacked with first-round talent from these defenses, especially at cornerback. LSU and Alabama are so fast and athletic on defense that it often looks like they have 12 guys on the field at all times.
LSU has beaten six ranked teams this season, and the only one they failed to beat by at least 10 was Alabama.
The Crimson Tide have beaten four ranked teams this season, including a dominating 38-14 win against Arkansas, which plays LSU on Friday.
The only quality team the Tigers have not beaten soundly this season was Alabama, and to be fair, if the Crimson Tide didn't miss so many field goals, then LSU would have lost that game.
Some fans don't want another LSU-Alabama game, saying they don't want another 9-6 or low-scoring game.
The point of the BCS is not to find a title game matchup between two exciting teams, it's to find the two best teams and have them duke it out for the crystal trophy.
The Tigers and Crimson Tide are the only elite teams in the country and they will battle in January with a national championship on the line, and to have any other matchup would be stupid.
The BCS has created a ton of controversy since its inception, but if LSU and Alabama win out, there is no way the system fails to produce the rematch all smart college football fans want to see.
