Junior Dos Santos: Power Ranking All of His UFC Fights

Tim McTiernanNov 24, 2011

The UFC's newest champion, Junior dos Santos, has torn a war path through the heavyweight division.

In eight UFC fights, JDS has finished six of his opponents, and has been on the verge of finishing the other two.

The man is an absolute animal, and is only sure to add more names to his resume before his career is over.

Let's take a look at all of his UFC wins—so far—and how good they really were.

No. 8: Vs. Shane Carwin at UFC 131

1 of 8

At UFC 131, JDS faced off against Shane Carwin in his second straight No. 1 contender's bout. An injury to Cain Velasquez forced JDS to take a second fight while waiting.

In the first round against Carwin, he rocked him and almost finished him towards the end of the round, however, the referee allowed the fight to continue.

JDS spent the next ten minutes absolutely brutalizing Carwin. Had he been able to finish him, this would certainly be ranked higher.

No. 7: Vs. Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC Live 1

2 of 8

At the first UFC event on Versus, JDS faced off against the former heavyweight title challenger, Gabriel Gonzaga.

In a Knockout of the Night performance, JDS finished off Gonzaga at 3:53 of the first round, to give him his fourth first-round finish in the UFC.

After this performance, JDS earned his first No. 1 contender's bout against this next man.

No. 6: Vs. Roy Nelson at UFC 117

3 of 8

At UFC 117, Junior dos Santos faced off against The Ultimate Fighter 10 winner, Roy Nelson.

As with all of his other fights, JDS used his superior striking to win the fight. This was JDS' first fight to go the full 15 minutes, and he never showed any signs of being in trouble.

He rocked the iron-chinned Nelson multiple times and even earned a 10-8 round on one of the judge's scorecards.

No. 5: Vs. Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 103

4 of 8

At the time of this fight, it was JDS' biggest test, as he was set up to face off against the heavyweight legend, Mirko Cro Cop.

After controlling the majority of the fight, JDS was able to force Cro Cop to submit after a knee from the Muay Thai clinch which left Cro Cop unable to see.

It was a huge statement to the heavyweight division; dos Santos was a force to be reckoned with.

No. 4: Vs. Stefan Struve at UFC 95

5 of 8

In the second UFC fight for Junior dos Santos, he picked up right where he left off in his first fight.

He faced Stefan Struve, and in less than a minute, dos Santos had finished off Struve after dropping him—more than once.

Dos Santos would get a serious step up in competition as he faced Cro Cop in his next fight.

No. 3: Vs. Gilbert Yvel at UFC 108

6 of 8

At UFC 108, JDS faced off against the debuting Gilbert Yvel. Yvel was making his debut, but it was not meant to be any walk in the park, as had a record of 36-13-1 [1 NC], and had just knocked out former UFC heavyweight title challenger, Pedro Rizzo.

JDS handled Yvel just as easily as all his other opponents.

Yvel landed a head kick that JDS was able to brush off, and a short time after, both fighters threw vicious left hooks.

Junior's landed and floored Yvel, who was then finished with some ground and pound.

No. 2: Vs. Fabricio Werdum at UFC 90

7 of 8

In the debut of dos Santos, he faced off against Fabricio Werdum, who was likely one or two wins away from a title shot at the time.

In just 81 seconds, JDS would shock the MMA world, as he knocked out Werdum with a vicious uppercut, and sent him face-first into the mat.

He sent a message to the heavyweight division that he is a force to be reckoned with.

No. 1: Vs. Cain Velasquez at UFC on Fox 1

8 of 8

Without a doubt, the biggest win of dos Santos' UFC career and his entire MMA career is also his most recent win.

JDS was able to knock out the heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez, in the first round of the first UFC fight ever on Fox.

With the win, Junior dos Santos became the new UFC heavyweight champion and the baddest man on the planet.
