WWE '12: Vince McMahon Should Take Lessons from New WWE Video Game
The new WWE '12 video game is getting rave reviews for its litany of changes. The developers at THQ completely revamped the format and changed the gameplay to make things much easier on us. All this change got me to think about Vince McMahon and his inability to change and learn from mistakes.
In addition to being the best-reviewed WWE video game since 2003, the pre-orders for it broke all of the old records.
So why is the WWE '12 video game being embraced by fans and critics alike? Changes. THQ knew that the old product was stale and that something had to be done to increase fan anticipation. They stripped the series down and built it back up in less than one year.

It doesn't hurt that old stars like Brock Lesnar, The Rock, Randy Savage, Bret Hart, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels will be included as unlockable or downloadable characters. But everything starts with the foundation, and this video game franchise is back on solid ground.
The same can't be said for WWE itself. Over the last few years, McMahon has seemingly lost his ability to do what is in the best interest of the business. He wants to keep certain on top and is so afraid of elevating anyone that the product has become a mess.
This year, WWE was able to gloss over some of its problems by bringing back The Rock for WrestleMania and Survivor Series. But aside from those two shows, this has been a terrible year for the company and its fans.
Sure, the CM Punk thing back in July was great, but other than that, name one big-money angle that they have done.
McMahon needs to follow the lead from THQ and strip down the current WWE product in order to build it back up. He can keep John Cena and Randy Orton on top, but he needs to do more with great workers like Dolph Ziggler, Daniel Bryan and Jack Swagger.
McMahon hired all these wrestlers, so he knows what they are capable of. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to want to use their considerable talents in a positive way.
If the fans can't get to him, perhaps all the buzz and anticipation surrounding the new and improved WWE video game will knock a screw loose and show him that change is a good thing.
