WWE Survivor Series 2011: What We Learned from Dolph Ziggler's Win and Loss
The 25th edition of Survivor Series is over and there are some highlights from the card that deserve mention. Dolph Ziggler and John Morrison are one of those highlights.
These two young grapplers had one of the best matches of the nights, topped only by CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio in my opinion.
Ziggler retained his title in a very hard-fought match that saw each man hit numerous impressive moves including a move from Ziggler that was similar to Doug Williams' finisher in TNA. Jerry Lawler even said something about the X-Division title after the match which meant he knew what it was as well.

I have to say that when Vickie Guerrero was booted from ringside and Ziggler still won the match it made me believe something I said in another article I posted: Ziggler does not need Guerrero.
He is a legitimate threat to anyone in the WWE when it comes to technical ability and heel charisma. His performance tonight showed everyone in New York and everyone watching around the world that he knows how to be the bad guy.
Morrison held his own in the match and there were times when I thought he might get the win. There was a point when he hit a great running knee and then set up for Starship Pain only to get a pair of knees to the back and a Zig Zag to end the match.
After this match I had high hopes for what might be in store for Ziggler during the elimination tag-team match.
Unfortunately, those hopes were dashed when Orton entered the match, hit an RKO and pinned Ziggler making him the first man eliminated.
I don't now if this was done because he was spent from the earlier encounter with Morrison or if it was simply Orton needing to look cool in a match he knew he would lose, but I am disappointed either way.
Ziggler has what it takes to be in the same matches as the Ortons, Cenas and Mark Henrys, but WWE seems happy to keep him in mid card purgatory for some reason.
During the Royal Rumble, I was sure that even though Ziggler lost to Edge, he was being promoted to the main-event scene, but he soon fell back to chasing the US title.
Don't get me wrong, he is the best thing in the US title picture right now, but I want to see Ziggler getting clean wins over top guys because he is good enough in the ring and respected enough by the fans to deserve it.
He was even getting cheered during his match with Morrison, something rarely seen when Vickie is in someone's corner.
I think the most important thing we learned from Ziggler tonight is he is one of WWE's best resources and he needs to be used better.
What did you think of Ziggler's performances during Survivor Series?
