BCS Rankings: Oregon and 3 Teams That Got the Shaft in the Standings

Brian MaziqueNov 20, 2011

It seems as though the voters couldn't wait to plummet the Ducks in the latest BCS standings. The Oregon Ducks fell just short as they tried to comeback and defeat the USC Trojans, losing 38-35.

The Ducks fell well short in regards to staying in shouting distance of the top five in the BCS. Despite a close loss to a good USC team, Oregon drops an ungodly six spots. No respect given to a team who lost two games to LSU and USC.

Here are two other teams that were wronged on Sunday night:

Georgia:

The Bulldogs lost their first two games of the season, one to Boise State and the other to South Carolina. Since then the Bulldogs have reeled off nine wins in a row. There is no team playing better than Georgia right now.

Georgia deserves to be in the top 10 of the standings.

Stanford:

I haven't been a proponent of the Cardinal all year, I think they have benefited greatly from Andrew Luck's popularity, but this week they finally got the shaft. There is no way the Virginia Tech Hokies have any business ahead of Stanford. The Hokies have played nobody all year long.

Their only loss was to a very flawed Georgia Tech team. The Yellow Jackets are far inferior to the Oregon Ducks, the only team to beat the Cardinal.

Va. Tech's in conference has even been subpar, yet they have vaulted ahead of all of the one loss teams except Arkansas and Oklahoma State.

With voting like this, it is apparent the BCS might as well let the computers determine the entire poll. The humans obviously aren't watching the games.
