Alabama Football: Why Does Las Vegas See Blowouts for the SEC's Best?
Las Vegas usually knows what they're doing when it comes to getting close to the winning margins of most football games.
So what did the LSU-Arkansas game open up with LSU as a 14-point favorite, and why do they see Alabama blowing out Auburn by over 19?
History tells us that when Alabama beats Auburn, they usually blow them out; when Auburn wins, it's a squeaker. So one can almost understand the logic behind that line.
But LSU and Arkansas?
That was a shocker, and I'm almost tempted to risk a little of my own money on that one.
Arkansas has won three of the last five, and the margin of victory in those wins was only an average less than four points.
In LSU's two wins of those last five games, the average margin of victory was just four points also.
This series is usually a war, settled late and by close margins.
But Las Vegas thinks that this game will be won by almost four times their usual amount. The money boys feel that No. 1 is a whole lot better than No. 3.
Maybe they feel that since Alabama beat them by 24 points, that LSU should at least beat them by 14, but Arkansas has made great strides since that early season loss to the Tide, and LSU's offense hasn't really progressed as much as Arkansas'.
Either way, that's a lot of points in two big rivalry games, and the world will be watching to see how it all plays out.
