BCS Rankings: Why Clemson Should Fall out of Top 10 After Loss to N.C. State
Clemson should not be in the top 10 of the new BCS rankings for Week 12 after their embarrassing upset loss to N.C. State.
The Tigers will have an opportunity to earn a BCS bowl berth when they play in the ACC championship game in early December.
The Wolfpack destroyed the Tigers 37-13 on Saturday, proving that Clemson is a bit overrated. The ACC overall is a weak conference, and after an 8-0 start Clemson has lost two of its last three games.
Clemson has averaged over 150 yards rushing this season, but only managed 34 yards on the ground Saturday against a poor Wolfpack defense.
The Tigers seemed disinterested against the Wolfpack. Even if they were relaxed going into the game, considering they'd already clinched a berth into the ACC title game, that is no excuse.
So if Clemson goes out of the top 10 in the BCS standings, who comes in?
For starters, Houston at 11-0 needs to move into the top 10. The Cougars are a very good offensive team with Heisman Trophy candidate Case Keenum having an amazing season at quarterback.
Kansas State also has a case to be in the top 10 after their win against Texas, which improved their record to 9-2.
Clemson better bring their "A" game against South Carolina next week because the Gamecocks are looking to add another quality win to their resume and ensure they receive the best bowl game berth possible.
If the Tigers play with the energy and effort they displayed against N.C. State on Saturday then South Carolina will destroy them.
