BCS Rankings Week 13: Houston Cougars and Teams That Got Screwed
Every AP ranking that comes out has its flaws, but this week with all of the BCS frenzy, it’s a complete mess.
When a team like the Houston Cougars can go 11-0 with one of the most potent offenses in college football history and be ranked No. 8, it’s time to reconsider how things are done.
The following list is of the teams that got screwed in the rankings this week and deserve the recognition that other teams are receiving.
Houston
The Houston Cougars may play in Conference USA, but their offensive abilities and skill players are as good as any in the entire nation.
Houston is ranked first in the country with 447.5 yards per game and lead the NCAA with an average of 53.1 points per game.
As long as Case Keenum is slinging the ball for the Cougars, they should be ranked in the top three because they do not have a loss. You could even make a case that they deserve to play LSU for the National Title.
Penn State
The Penn State Nittany Lions climbed to 9-2 on the season and to first in the Big Ten Leaders Division after beating down Ohio State.
Instead of climbing in the rankings like they should have, Penn State was relegated to jump from No. 21 to No. 20.
With eight teams in the Top 25 last week losing this week, there is no way that Penn State should have only jumped one position.
Georgia
After starting the season with two straight losses, the Georgia Bulldogs have won nine straight.
With a winnable game against Georgia Tech as their regular season finale, the Georgia Bulldogs should be staring at a stellar ranking. Instead they’re No. 13.
Georgia could be ranked as high as seventh this week, but for once the BCS wasn’t biased towards the SEC. Of course, it’s the wrong time.
