7 Reasons Why Sheamus Is a WWE Legend in the Making

Tom ClarkNov 22, 2011

Sheamus has seen his WWE career take off in recent months, thanks to his face turn getting him over with the fans.  The Celtic Warrior has become The Great White, and he is now one of the hottest stars in the company.

Vince McMahon is all about making workers into Superstars, and no one does it better.  He has taken guys who may have not been considered top-tier and brought out the best in them.  Cultivating talent and helping them reach their full potential is how WWE makes money, and Sheamus is one of the guys who is now very good for business.

His career is still very young, and he has a lifetime ahead of him, but as we often do on Bleacher Report, it's time to stand back and evaluate this Superstar.

Where is he going?  Is he going to be a top draw in the company?

Here are seven reasons why that may just be the case.

No. 7 He Has Friends in High Places

1 of 7

Sometimes it's all in who you know.

Not long after Sheamus debuted, word got out that not only was he friends with Triple H, working out with him in the gym, but that Hunter was his biggest supporter.

Sheamus came from nowhere and was pushed very high up very quickly.

It's all about the Game and how you play it.

This is not to take anything away from Sheamus, however, the guy has proven that he can go in the ring, and deserves his spot in WWE.  He definitely fits in.

But his way in was by impressing one of the best of all time, and there's nothing wrong with that.

The fact is, when you are a WWE Superstar, and Triple H has your back, anything is possible.

No. 6 He Has a Great Look

WWE Superstars are all about image.

After all, their physical appearance is the first thing that catches your attention and determines how memorable they can be for fans.

Anyone going to forget Sheamus's look anytime soon?

The pale white skin, the bright red hair and beard, the emerald green ring gear, well, let's just say that Sheamus stands out in a crowd.

His look makes him extremely marketable because he is so different from every other Superstar in WWE.  No one looks like him, there is no mistaking who he is.

He is instantly recognizable, and 20 years from now when your kids see a photo of Sheamus and ask who he is, I guarantee you will remember.

That is what separates a good look from a great look, and Sheamus certainly has it.

No. 5 He Can Talk

3 of 7

The most memorable WWE Superstars are the ones who could talk a streak, pull the crowd into their promo and have them hanging on every word.

While Sheamus may not be Dusty Rhodes, his mic skills have improved by leaps and bounds since he turned baby face.

He's funny, entertaining and every time he rants about his Irish grandfather, he produces some off-the-wall story that is usually aimed at insulting his opponent.

His smile and his sense of humor are definitely coming across in his promos, and it all continues to work toward him establishing his personality and solidifying himself as a great talker.

You got that, fella?

No. 4 He Has Crossover Potential

4 of 7

Okay, so maybe he's not headed for the Walk of Fame just yet, but he has been seen outside of WWE circles lately.

Being introduced into the mainstream is the first step in determining if a WWE Superstar has the personality and crossover potential to be a hit with a non-wrestling audience.

I would say that Sheamus is fitting in quite nicely.

He's funny, he's very likable and when people see him, they immediately know that he has to be somebody, and are interested to hear what he has to say.

Whether or not he can bring in a whole new legion of fans for WWE is unknown, but any positive spotlight he can help shine on the company makes him very valuable indeed.

No. 3 He Can Work

5 of 7

Remember when this used to be the number one requirement for making a great wrestler?

Those were the days.

But this is WWE we're talking about, and when it comes to making Legends, the ability to work is preferred, but not always required.

In the case of Sheamus, he's got no worries, he's covered.

His style is bruising, punishing, he hits one heavy-handed blow after another and at times it looks as though he is trying to beat his opponent to death.

Okay, so he's no Ricky Steamboat, but his ability is undeniable, and he can go toe-to-toe with the best of the best in WWE.  He is fully capable of leaving behind a very solid, very impressive in-ring legacy for future fans and WWE Superstars to admire.

He is hitting his stride as a worker in the ring, and he is only getting better.  What more can you ask for?

No. 2 He Has Already Had Success

6 of 7

Now, we talkin' bout makin' it!

Props to you if you get that Hollywood Shuffle reference, and even more if you were one of the no doubt countless throngs of fans who were absolutely shocked when Sheamus went over for the WWE Title for the first time.

Shocked and utterly awed.

But in the long run, it may have been just what Sheamus needed to not only gain credibility, but to set himself up for the future.  Why?

Because, he's gotten it out of the way.  He will not spend his time in WWE like so many others before him did with constant questions as to whether or not he can win "the big one."  He has already been on the top as champion, and now he can focus on building his WWE career.

The pressure is off and now Sheamus is a guy who has proven himself, someone the company can go back to whenever the need arises.

And that could happen at anytime.

No. 1 He Has Weathered the Storm

7 of 7

The true test of a WWE Superstar is not just when he's on top, but handling his fame and carrying himself as a real professional.  It's also when he's back on the bottom, struggling at mid-card, begging to be noticed.

And that is why Sheamus is now back on top.

At one point, Sheamus could not buy a win, and there was constant talk among fans that he was being buried every week.

It certainly did appear that he had peaked and his time as a featured performer was finished.

But Sheamus held his head up, apparently kept his mouth shut and gave everything he had despite his obvious lack of push.

He's a pro who did what he was told and now he's getting another shot at the top.  He survived the downswing and lived to talk about it.

Sheamus has proved that he has what it takes to succeed and thrive in WWE.  He has weathered the storm, found a way to get over and now only good things lie ahead for The Great White.
