Lee Corso Video: ESPN Analyst Shows Us What College Football Is All About
Apparently College GameDay analyst Lee Corso likes the Houston Cougars.
Before No. 11 Houston's matchup with Conference-USA foe SMU on Saturday, Corso got all kinds of riled up.
So much so that he said the "F word" on national television.
That's right, right after yelling "USA!" into a horn on the set Saturday morning, Corso yelled "F*** it!" and donned a Cougars mascot head, sending Cougars fans into hysteria and giving his fellow hosts a hearty laugh to start the day, including standby Carl Lewis.
Corso is known throughout the land as a very emotional guy, especially when it comes to college football. As a former player for Florida State and college football coach, he's been around football for the majority of his life, and it certainly shows.
Corso will probably receive a slap on the wrist for his language in Saturday's telecast, but his exuberance on Saturday showed what college football is all about.
It's a sport surrounded by the passion of college kids, after all. It comes complete with mascots, cheerleaders, school spirit and, yes, drunk college kids.
Corso captured this on Saturday as banners and signs swung around behind him on the set, and he's been capturing it for a while on College GameDay. He may rub some people the wrong way, but you can't deny the man's passion for the sport and there's no doubt he has a way of getting college football fans pumped up before games.
Corso was forced to apologize after his language on Saturday (and for setting off what must have been the FCC alarms), but, at least for me, there is no need for apology. He brings excitement to a sport that should be exciting, and I think a slew of Cougars fans would agree.
