UFC 139 Predictions: Which Fighter Has the Most to Gain?

Sean SmithNov 19, 2011

Stacked with a number of pivotal fights, every UFC 139 competitor has plenty to gain Saturday night. However, there is only one fight on the card that guarantees the winner a shot at a UFC belt.

Bantamweights Urijah Faber and Brian Bowles are each looking to earn a rematch against UFC champion Dominick Cruz. While both are fighting for the same prize—a shot at the titleholder of the 135-pound division—Bowles has more to gain from the matchup.

Already established as one of the best lighter weight fights in MMA history, Faber is well-known among MMA fans.

Although Bowles is a former WEC champion himself, many fans who have only been following the UFC might have little idea who he is.

At UFC 139, Bowles will have a chance to introduce himself to those fans in a big way if he can find a way to defeat Faber in impressive fashion. By defeating Faber, Bowles would not only earn another shot at Cruz, he would steal a piece of Faber's fame.

Now is the time for bantamweight and featherweight fighters to make their impressions on people who have not been following these divisions before their introduction to the UFC.

Bowles might not get a better chance than this to show the world what he is about.

While Dan Henderson and Mauricio Rua are fighting for another run at a light heavyweight title shot, and Wanderlei Silva is competing for his MMA career, no other fighter at UFC 139 has more to gain Saturday night than Bowles.
