Joe Paterno Lung Cancer: Twitter Reacts to JoePa's Treatable Diagnosis
Former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno has been diagnosed with a treatable form of lung cancer, his son Scott said Friday, via the AP.
Scott Paterno said in a statement from the AP via ESPN that his father, who is 84-years-old, is undergoing treatment and "his doctors are optimistic he will make a full recovery."
Lung cancer is the second most common form of cancer in men and women in the United States.

Scott Paterno also asked for his family's privacy during this difficult time.
"As everyone can appreciate, this is a deeply personal matter for my parents, and we simply ask that his privacy be respected as he proceeds with treatment," Scott Paterno said in a brief statement.
Joe Paterno's 409 wins are the most of any head coach in the history of Division 1 football.
