WWE Survivor Series: Why The Rock's Return Will Bring Back Older Fans

Eric BowmanNov 18, 2011

Do you smell what the WWE is cooking?

I would add all the extra L's but it's just not the same in text. However, that is a question that many wrestling fans need to be asking.

The Rock has returned to WWE, and this time he is actually going to step in the ring to wrestle. The WWE is up to something here, and it could turn out to be huge.

WWE Survivor Series will take place this Sunday, Nov. 20, in Madison Square Garden, and having The Rock back in action (more than just hosting) will bring current, old and even new fans to the sport.

Nobody knows for sure if The Rock will disappear for a while and then return to WrestleMania next year, but something tells me that won't happen.

As one of wrestling biggest stars, The Rock will no doubt bring back old fans to the sport, and if the WWE plays its cards right, these fans will stick around longer than the pay-per-view event.

If you remember correctly, the last time The Rock battled in the ring was in 2004 at WrestleMania XX, which was also in Madison square Garden.

He has a huge fanbase, and his appearance at Survivor Series will no doubt bring in more viewers. Wrestling fans hope his return is more than just a ploy to spark ratings for the pay-per-view event, as having The Rock back in a huge feud with John Cena brings great excitement for all.

The Rock tweeted yesterday about his return, and one can only hope his stay is lengthy and not short-lived.

It's one thing to come back to the sport that made him, but for The Rock to actually wrestle again is a huge deal. The casual fan can become an avid fan once again if The Rock sticks around for a while.

According to IMDB, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is set to appear in five movies from 2012-2013, which indicates he will continue to be a very busy man.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, but the WWE needs to make sure The Rock continues to actually wrestle. He may be 39 years old right now, but it's obvious he is still in great shape.

You might have to look past that hideous tattoo to see it, but the muscle is there.

Disclaimer: I'm fully aware The Rock has more strength in one arm that I do in both, and I sincerely apologize if he is offended by me insulting his tattoo.

What I won't be sorry about is the anger I and many others will feel if The Rock vanishes after Survivor Series and doesn't make another appearance on Raw until 2012.

The WWE should be smarter than that, as having The Rock back makes the show all the more electrifying.

So now the question is, will he and Cena beat The Miz and R-Truth?

Is the sky blue? Is Randy Orton's skin as ridiculously disturbing as Snooki's? Does my excitement for Big Show vs. Mark Henry outweigh both wrestlers combined?

Yes, yes, yes and yes. The wannabe superteam known as Awesome Truth stands no chance, even if The Rock and Cena do hate each other.

The "Peoples Champ" will shine bright in Madison Square Garden, and all the old fans that are coming back for him will stick around.
