WWE Survivor Series 2011: The Rock Will Bring WWE to the Mainstream
No star has crossed over into the mainstream as much as The Rock has besides Hulk Hogan in the 70s and 80s.
The Rock puts the entertainment in World Wrestling Entertainment.
After leaving the WWE in 2003, The Rock has had a successful movie career, starring in hits like Fast Five, Gridiron Gang, Walking Tall and The Scorpion King.
While I personally hated The Rock’s acting, it’s hard to argue with the amount of movies the man has been a part of since his departure.
With all of that success in the movie business, The Rock has made plenty of Hollywood friends.
That’s what the WWE wants.
When The Rock comes strolling down the ramp to team up with John Cena in their Survivor Series match against R-Truth and The Miz, the WWE will hope to see plenty of celebrity faces in the crowd so they can garner the mainstream media attention that follows them.
If The Rock’s presence gets more media outlets covering the WWE, those letters of W-W-E will be on the tongue of the mainstream.
With more people exposed to the product, the hope is that more fans will follow under the cult of WWE.
It also doesn’t hurt that the 25th anniversary of Survivor Series will be held in the media capital of the world, New York City, at the most famous venue in that city, Madison Square Garden.
The Rock in New York City will be electrifying!
