Week 11 Fantasy Rankings: Predicting the Highest Scoring Quarterbacks

Zachary D. RymerNov 18, 2011

Week 11 is going to suck for fantasy owners who depend on Drew Brees and Ben Roethlisberger for points. While they're at home sitting on the couch, Brees and Big Ben will probably be doing the same thing. That's what bye weeks are for.

Or so I'm told. By my imagination.

As for the rest of us, Week 11 should be fun. Plenty of top-flight quarterbacks will be in action, and a handful of them are facing some pretty favorable matchups. Points will be scored, and there shall be much rejoicing.

Especially if you own one of the five quarterbacks listed below.

5. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys

I've spent the bulk of the 2011 season bashing Tony Romo for being an overrated pretty boy, but even a hater like myself knows to recognize good football when he sees it.

And make no mistake, Romo has been playing some good football in the past couple of weeks, tossing five touchdowns and no interceptions. On Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, he threw just three incompletions, which is Aaron Rodgers-like.

Only thing is that these two games were both at home, and Romo will have to look for further success on the road against the Washington Redskins on Sunday.

I'm not too worried about him. The Redskins are a good defensive team, but their defense is spending a bit too much time on the field these days. Washington's offense has gone into full "Suck for Luck" mode, and the entire team is suffering as a result.

Projection: 300 yards passing, 2 TDs.

4. Carson Palmer, Oakland Raiders

Carson Palmer's presence in Oakland has led many people to overlook the fact that the Raiders are going to try to run the football before they do anything else.

Nevertheless, the fact that Palmer was able to rack up 299 yards on just 14 completions in his second start is pretty darn impressive.

The Raiders will still look to run the football on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, but Hue Jackson will recognize that the Vikings are 30th in the NFL against the pass. Better yet, they're coming off a short week and a demoralizing loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Palmer and the Raiders will demoralize them further.

Projection: 340 yards passing, 2 TDs, 1 INT.

3. Eli Manning, New York Giants

Though he was intercepted twice, Eli Manning played pretty well on Sunday at the San Francisco 49ers, completing 65 percent of his passes for 311 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Not too shabby seeing as how Manning was going up against the NFC's best defense.

On Sunday, Manning will get to face one of the NFC's more mediocre defenses when the Philadelphia Eagles come to town. The Eagles have pretty good numbers against the pass, but the thing to keep in mind here is that we're probably looking at a tough offensive day for the Eagles. Michael Vick likely won't be able to play with busted ribs and if he doesn't, Vince Young will have to pick up the slack.

To give you an idea what we're talking about, the Eagles struggled offensively against the Arizona Cardinals, and John Skelton threw for over 300 yards with a pair of touchdowns.

Manning is better than Skelton, so...

Projection: 290 yards passing, 3 TDs, 1 INT.

2. Tom Brady, New England Patriots

Tom Brady went through a slump for a couple games there, but he looked much more like himself on Sunday night against the New York Jets, passing for 329 yards and three touchdowns.

Might the slump come back? Possibly, but not against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night. The Chiefs have decent numbers against the pass, but they're pretty misleading once you consider some of the quarterbacks they've gotten to face in recent weeks, most notably Tim Tebow and the Kyle Boller/Carson Palmer tandem.

Besides which, the Chiefs aren't going to move the football with Matt Cassel out. They're in for a rough night, and Brady will be one of many beneficiaries.

Projection: 350 yards passing, 3 TDs.

1. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

Surprised to see Aaron Rodgers here?

If so, you clearly haven't been paying attention this year, sir. Rodgers has been brilliant all season, and he's going to be brilliant again against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Why? Mainly because the Bucs are 28th in the league against the pass and they have pretty much no pass rush to speak of.

It's going to be too easy.

Projection: 280 yards passing, 4 TDs.
