UFC 139 Fight Card: Dan Henderson and the 5 Hardest Hitting Light Heavyweights

G DNov 17, 2011

On Saturday, November 19th, 2011, the UFC will travel to San Jose, California for UFC 139.

UFC 139 will take place at the HP Pavilion beginning at 6:00 p.m. PT and 9:00 p.m. ET.

The main card will be headlined around two of the UFC's heaviest hitters in Dan Henderson and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, who will square off in a light heavyweight showdown.

Over the course of their mixed martial arts career, Henderson and Rua have combined for 30 total knockouts.

And, while Henderson and Rua are two of the hardest hitters in the 205-pound weight class, they certainly aren't the only ones.

So, the following slides display the five hardest-hitting light heavyweights in the UFC today.

Let's take a look.

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson

1 of 5

At one point in his career, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson was considered one of the most dangerous strikers on the planet.

While Jackson hasn't done much to live up to this reputation as of late, he is still one of the light heavyweight division's hardest hitting fighters.

Over the course of his long-lived career, Jackson has knocked out Chuck Liddell on two different occasions, Kevin Randleman and Wanderlei Silva.

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua

2 of 5

Despite having lost three of his last seven bouts, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua remains one of the hardest hitting light heavyweights in the UFC today.

Similar to Henderson, Rua brought his striking skills over from Pride in September of 2007 when he signed with the UFC.

Rua has knocked out some of the greatest fighters of all-time in Chuck Liddell, Mark Coleman, Lyoto Machida and Forrest Griffin.

"Shogun" has a total of 17 career knockouts and will look to add to that total when he takes on Dan Henderson November 19th.

Lyoto Machida

3 of 5

Lyoto Machida has been one of the most underrated strikers in mixed martial arts arts since entering the sport in May of 2003.

While Machida is primarily recognized for his Karate and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skill set, he remains one of the hardest hitters in the light heavyweight division.

Over the course of his career, Machida has used his hard hitting to knock out Rashad Evans, Thiago Silva, Rich Franklin and Stephan Bonnar.

Dan Henderson

4 of 5

Dan Henderson began his career in June of 1997 and has been considered one of the hardest hitters in mixed martial arts ever since.

Henderson's heavy hitting allowed him to dominate during his days in Pride, as he knocked out opponents such as Renzo Gracie, Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva.

Henderson's striking skills didn't miss a beat when he made the transition to the UFC, as he landed some of the most vicious knockouts in the history of the organization.

"Hendo" will look to continue his heavy hitting when he takes on Mauricio "Shogun" Rua on November 19th, 2011.

Rashad Evans

5 of 5

While Rashad Evans is more recognized for his ability to wrestle and ground-and-pound his opponent to victory, he is one of the hardest hitters in the 205-pound weight class.

Evans hasn't always been one of the hardest hitters, as he displayed just one knockout victory in the first eight fights of his career.

That all changed when Evans made the transition to the UFC, where he's knocked out a total of five more opponents.

Evans has knocked out some of the UFC's greatest fighters in Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin and Tito Ortiz.
