Dan Henderson Says He is Happy to Finish His Career in the UFC
Having gathered over a decade of fighting experience, Dan Henderson has enjoyed a lengthy and successful career.
The 41-year-old will make his return back to the UFC for a third and final time, hoping to thrust himself into the title picture immediately and make one final run at the belt.
After spending a few years competing under the Strikeforce, Henderson said he is happy to return to the UFC and finish his career with the company.
"It's pretty much just plain business, but it does feel good to realize that this is probably where I'm going to end up," Henderson told MMAJunkie.com.
Henderson, who meets Mauricio "Shogun" Rua this weekend at UFC 139, said one of the main reasons he resigned with the company is because of the potential opportunities that lie ahead for him. One of those opportunities is more exposure, thanks in part to a new television deal the UFC was able to put together with FOX Sports.
Henderson was intrigued at the idea of being promoted on network television, which was what led him to Strikeforce and enjoy a 3-1 record during his stint. One of the highlights during his tenure, saw Henderson crowned as the Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, as well as earn arguably the biggest victory of his career over Fedor Emelianenko.
However, Henderson now finds himself back in the UFC, and he has made amends with the company and is ready to compete against some of the best fighters in the world.
"We're all here to get along and make some money at the same time and give some good fights to the fans," he said. "I think they're happy and I'm happy with the deal we have now."
