Week 11 Fantasy Rankings: Top QBs to Cover Big Ben's and Drew Brees' Bye Weeks

Jeremy ReidNov 17, 2011

If you have Drew Brees or Ben Roethlisberger, you have a blessing and a curse with a late Week 11 bye. You were able to have your leader play through the bulk of your schedule without a week off. However, now your opponent is probably at full strength and you're short of a high-scoring QB.

First of all, there is a great possibility that you already have a decent second tier quarterback stashed away for this Sunday, such as Eli Manning or Josh Freeman.  If you don't, though, there is value out there on the waiver wire that can provide solid production and a good matchup to take advantage of.

Here are your best options to take the reins late in the season and keep your playoff surge on track without skipping a beat.

Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals

The rookie quarterback has been very consistent this year, which is key to being a possible bye week fill-in. Dalton will be a solid start, even against the Ravens, and will put you in position to win.

He has now thrown for multiple touchdowns in three consecutive games. He will face Baltimore this weekend in what is the Bengals' toughest stretch of the season. However, he was able to throw two scores against the Steelers last week, which proves he can get the job done even against the most elite defenses.

The Ravens have the sixth-ranked pass defense in the league, and Dalton may be without his favorite target in A.J. Green. This will provide some hurdles for him. However, with Jermaine Gresham and Jerome Simpson both being viable red-zone targets, he should be good to gut out a couple of scores again and keep you in your game.

Matt Moore, Miami Dolphins

You may have never thought it would come to starting a backup quarterback for the Miami Dolphins, but the timing is right.  The Dolphins have won two games in a row and Moore has a solid running game with Reggie Bush to help him out.

The Dolphins will play the Buffalo Bills this week, who let Tony Romo carve them up with one of the highest completion percentages in the NFL last week.

Meanwhile, Moore has been accurate in his own right. The Miami QB has completed 17 of 23 passes and 20 of 29 in his last two contests. What's more, he should find it easy to find open receivers against the poor coverage of the Bills, which should create some good scoring opportunities.

The Bills have lost three road games in a row and their turnover-happy defense seems to be trending the wrong way. If you need to, jump on the Moore bandwagon for the week and enjoy the results.

Tim Tebow, Denver Broncos

Despite Tebow only throwing eight passes last week—and, worse yet, completing just two of them—he has the potential to score for your fantasy team.

Even without airing it out as many times as most quarterbacks, Tebow has been able to throw for a touchdown in every game in which he has seen action. He has run for two scores in a little over four games of action, but more importantly averages over 69 yards on the ground per start.

Those extra rushing yards make up for the lack of pass attempts and tally the same as another passing touchdown. With everything he brings to the field, he is a consistent option at quarterback for about 15 points with upside if they can unleash a dangerous play-action attack stemming from their run-heavy offense.
