Fantasy Football Week 16 Rankings: Wide Receivers

Michael WhooleyDec 17, 2008

With Andre Johnson tallying 207 yards in Week 15, we've now seen two weeks in a row in which a wide receiver has reached the 200-yard plateau (Antonio Bryant had 200 in Week 14 against the Panthers). Will it happen once more in Week 16? Probably not, but that doesn't mean there aren't wide receivers who'll be putting up big games.

To find out who they are and where all the rest of the wide receivers sit for Week 16, check out the Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Week 16 Wide Receiver Rankings.

1. Randy Moss (New England Patriots) vs. Arizona

Sure, Moss isn't having a season comparable to his 2007 campaign, but can you really blame him for that? It's hard enough to repeat record-breaking years; more so when your team's starting quarterback gets injured in the first game of the season.

Moss, though, remains a top-10 fantasy wide receiver, and for Week 16, he'll be king of the mountain. With 10 TDs on the year, Moss has shown he has a nose for the end zone. He should make multiple trips there this week as the Pats face a Cardinals defense that has allowed 31 passing TDs on the year.

Point Projection: 21 points

2. Andre Johnson (Houston Texans) @ Oakland

A matchup with Nnamdi Asomugha is not something you want to see for your wide receiver, but Randy Moss did show the Raiders cornerback can be beat. Coming off of three straight games with a TD and a 207-yard effort in Week 15, we think Johnson will be able to get the best of Asomugha as well.

Point Projection: 20 points

3. Steve Smith (Carolina Panthers) @ New York Giants

This week we finally get the matchup we've all been waiting for, as Steve Smith will meet Steve Smith to finally determine once and for all who represents the name better. To be honest, it's not going to even be close.

While the New York Giants rank among the top 10 pass defenses, nothing can slow Smith's roll right now as the Panthers wide receiver has gone for over 100 receiving yards in four straight games.

Point Projection: 18 points

4. Calvin Johnson (Detroit Lions) vs. New Orleans

If Johnson can get the job done against tough pass defenses, which has proven to be the case this season—including a 15-point fantasy performance last weekend against the Indianapolis Colts—then the 26th-ranked pass defense of the Saints should be no problem.

Johnson should record his third straight double-digit game on Sunday, continuing to help fantasy owners during this most crucial time of the season.

Point Projection: 17 points

--------------------

5. Marques Colston (New Orleans Saints) @ Detroit

Let's see, you have the highest-scoring offense in the NFL in the Saints (27.9 points per game) going up against the Lions defense that allows the most points per game in the NFL (31.7).

No doubt about it, the Saints are going to put points up in this one, and Marques Colston, who has double digits in four of his last six games, will be a beneficiary of that.

Point Projection: 16 points

--------------------

6. Antonio Bryant (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) vs. San Diego

Week 15 brought the Bruno Boys a ton of questions regarding whether to start Anontio Bryant or not. We're guessing that with his 16-point performance against the Falcons, his third straight double-digit performance, and a matchup with the 31st-ranked pass defense of the San Diego Chargers on the docket.

We won't be getting quite as many of those for Week 16.

Point Projection: 16 points

--------------------

7. Greg Jennings (Green Bay Packers) @ Chicago

Even with a touchdown catch in Week 15, Jennings did not reach the 10-point plateau for the second week in a row. However, that streak will come to an end in Week 16 as Jennings lines up across from the Bears secondary, a group that's allowing 233.6 passing yards per game and has allowed opposing quarterbacks to throw for 17 TDs this season.

Jennings already burned the Bears for 64 yards and a score earlier this season; we like him to be even better this time around.

Point Projection: 16 points
