Tracking Funniest Twitter Reactions to Mike McQueary CBS "Interview"
It may have been a little on the creepy side, but Bob Costas' interview with former Penn State defensive coordinator and alleged pedophile Jerry Sandusky was television and journalism gold.
On Tuesday, CBS followed up with their own interview with Penn State assistant Mike McQueary, a key witness in the Jerry Sandusky scandal. It was billed as an exclusive, and was hotly anticipated by all.
The interview lasted just long enough for McQueary and CBS to provide us with absolutely nothing at all. If the Sandusky interview is gold, the McQueary interview is fool's gold.
And people aren't about to let McQueary or CBS forget about it any time soon. The mockery is coming fast and furious on Twitter, and many of the tweets are too good not to share.
For the most part, people are focusing on the length of the interview, which was embarrassingly short.
Here's a good one from Penn State sports reporter Ben Jones, who references the most awkward moment in the Sandusky interview:
The fellas at College Football Talk referenced one of the more embarrassing moments in college basketball history to make their point:
SI.com's Jimmy Traina used everyone's favorite punching bag to make his point:
CBS Sports' Greg Doyell actually defended the McQueary interview, albeit in a hilarious way:
And since we're talking about Twitter, here's a good one from John Canzano of The Oregonian:
In addition to the ridiculously short length of the interview, people are bashing CBS for having the nerve to even go through with it. These tweets are also hilarious.
The always entertaining Jason Whitlock had a couple things to say about it. Here's his criticism for CBS:
And here's his awesome shoutout to Bob Costas:
Lastly, Whitlock asked what's next for CBS:
ESPN's Scott Van Pelt thinks CBS could have done better things with their time:
SI.com's Stewart Mandel would just as soon forget what he just saw:
Meanwhile, Amy K. Nelson made what I'm pretty sure is a Billy Madison reference:
Not sure if Nelson's reference trumps my biblical reference:
Whenever stuff happens, you can always count on some wisdom from CNBC's Darren Rovell. He didn't disappoint after the McQueary interview concluded:
Corey Clark of the Tallahassee Democrat thinks CBS just outdid the idiots that showed up to troll the Penn State Board of Trustees when they fired Joe Paterno:
Speaking of Paterno, Ethan Skolnick of the Palm Beach Post has an idea for CBS' next exclusive:
Last but not least, here's some holiday shopping advice from some random guy:
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
Plenty more where these came from, folks. Stay tuned for more.
