The Cavaliers still have a shot at the ACC Coastal Division, but they need to beat the Seminoles this week and archrival Virginia Tech next week.
They can't look too far ahead because facing Florida State in Tallahassee is no easy task.
As for Florida State, despite a rough start, they have chance at the ACC Atlantic Division, but the Seminoles need a a win and few things to go their way.

BCS/Top 25 Implications
The Cavaliers need this victory to put them into the polls. They are receiving some AP votes, and a win over Florida State would definitely get the job done. If they win their next two games, the Cavaliers should be playing for the ACC Championship, but getting there will prove to be difficult.
As for for the No. 25 Seminoles, they cannot afford to lose another game. Three straight losses early in the year were a huge setback for this team, but there's hope for a bright future, especially if they beat Virginia to stay in the Top 25.
What They're Saying
Steve Yanda writes for The Washington Post, and he tweeted out some positive news regarding the Cavaliers coaching situation.
Mike London has been a hot name in Penn State's search for a new coach. This is his second year as head coach of the Cavaliers, and since his team has had a nice turnaround in year two, he apparently likes where he is at.
It would make sense for him to leave because it's a better football program, but there is a huge mess going on with the Penn State scandal, so you can't really blame London for not wanting to join the Nittany Lions.
London has a bright future with the Cavaliers, and depending on how the season finishes out, he could be getting a very nice contract extension. He's already led the Cavaliers to their first bowl-eligible season since 2007.
Corey Clark covers the Seminoles for the Tallahassee Democrat, and he tweeted out the latest news on Florida State's linebacker Nigel Bradham, who was ejected from last week's game for a crushing hit on an opposing player.
This is good news for the Seminoles because Bradham is a senior leader on the Seminoles defense and they need him on the field.
If he were to be suspended, there would be a huge outcry, just like there was when Bradham was ejected.
Take a look at the hit yourself, and you'll see that he shouldn't have been kicked out of the game, and the ACC did the right thing by not suspending him.
Virginia Player to Watch
Michael Rocco has had his ups and downs this season, but he's only thrown one interception in the last four games.
The sophomore quarterback has to be on his A-game in Tallahassee, or else the Cavaliers don't stand a chance. It's a hostile environment to play in, and if Rocco gets flustered, it could be a long night for the Cavaliers.
Florida State Player to Watch
At the beginning of the season, there was talk about E.J. Manuel possibly being a dark horse Heisman candidate, but an injury hindered him from truly shining this year.
Since returning to full health, Manuel has led the Seminoles on a five-game winning streak, and he's hoping to make it six. He hasn't dominated in his last two games, so look for a stellar performance at home from the junior quarterback.
Key Matchup
The Seminoles defensive front is playing extremely well this season, as their run defense ranks No. 4 in the country. The Cavaliers have two very talented running backs that can easily burn a team.
Virginia's rushing attack ranks No. 34 in the country, but junior Perry Jones and freshman Kevin Parks are both averaging five yards per carry, and they know they have to deliver on Saturday if the Cavaliers want to win.
Key Storyline
Will the Cavaliers extend their quest to win the ACC Coastal Division? Virginia has been a big surprise this year, and if they beat Florida State, they will be one win away from claiming the division.
Unfortunately, the Seminoles have owned the Cavaliers over the years. They started playing against one another in 1992, and since then, the Seminoles lead the series, 14-2.
The Cavaliers have a great chance at revenge on the Saturday, and they need to make the most of their opportunity and pull the upset over Florida State.
Prediction
This game will be closer than the line suggests, but in the end, the Seminoles will walk away victorious. Florida State's defense will prove to be the difference maker, as they prevent the Cavaliers from leading a fourth quarter comeback.
