Penn State Scandal: Allegations of Additional Victims Further PSU's Nightmare
It's been a little over a week since former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky was charged with sexually abusing eight boys in a period of 15 years.
Now 10 more alleged victims have come forth, according to The New York Times.
That would put Sandusky's alleged victim count at an astounding 18, almost hard to fathom, given Penn State's sterling reputation before the charges on Nov. 5.
The charges trace all the way back to 1994 and include a 2002 incident in which current receivers coach Mike McQueary allegedly saw Sandusky sexually abusing a 10-year-old boy in one of PSU's locker room showers.
On NBC News' Rock Center on Monday, an interview between Bob Costas and Sandusky aired.
Sandusky, who continues to maintain his innocence, said, via MSNBC:
"I could say that I have done some of those things. I have horsed around with kids, I have showered after workouts. I have hugged them and I have touched their leg without intent of sexual contact.
"
When pressed by Costas, Sandusky conceded, "I shouldn't have showered with those kids."
Penn State is already living a nightmare, brought on by its own. The last thing the university needs is for more alleged victims to come forth. Already considered one of the worst scandals in sports history, this doesn't even seem real anymore, but a cruel joke.
You almost want to plug your ears until it all goes away, but the reality is this isn't something that just goes away, nor should we ignore what allegedly transpired for so many years behind closed doors.
Because only when the entire truth comes out, only when all guilty have been found will Penn State and our nation be able to heal again.
We're all tired of things being covered up.
