BCS Rankings: 3 Outsiders with Best Chance to Sneak into Title Game
LSU and Oklahoma State may be the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in college football right now, but there's still some season left.
After Alabama lost to LSU, some believed they actually got off easy by dropping just one spot in the BCS rankings.
The Crimson Tide are very much in play, as are two other teams.
Honorable Mention: Arkansas (No. 6, 9-1)
The Arkansas Razorbacks would skyrocket if they beat LSU on Nov. 25, but I don't see them doing that.
They've been dominant since losing to Alabama in Week 4, but the fact of the matter is they lost to Alabama and it's hard for me to say they'll beat LSU after that.
The Razorbacks can score points in bunches, but they scored 14 points against the Crimson Tide.
3. Oregon (No. 4, 9-1)
The Oregon Ducks just can't get much respect in the BCS rankings.
They were placed behind Arkansas in Week 10 despite the Razorbacks winning by a combined eight points against Ole Miss and Vanderbilt, and they still found themselves behind Alabama after defeating then-No. 4 Stanford, 53-30, on Saturday.
Their remaining games are against USC and Oregon State, and those wins alone won't jump them into the title game discussion.
But there is a chance if the top three teams falter down the stretch.
2. Oklahoma (No. 5, 8-1)
Since their letdown against Texas Tech, the Oklahoma Sooners have won their last two games, including a 58-17 bashing of then-No. 8 Kansas State.
They are three spots away from entering the title game, but one thing they do have going for them is they face No. 2 Oklahoma State in their last game of the regular season.
There's still a chance the Sooners could jump with a win over the Cowboys, and I'm thinking that game is going to be very close.
1. Alabama (No. 3, 9-10)
Some believe Alabama has been given too much credit at No. 3 at this point in the season, but the fact of the matter is they lost by three points to LSU and would have won that game if it wasn't for four missed field goals.
A lot of people still want to see a LSU-Alabama matchup in the title game and the BCS rankings reflect that.
If the Crimson Tide win their next two games against Mississippi State and No. 24 Auburn, and Oklahoma State loses to Oklahoma, the No. 2 spot is Alabama's for the taking.
Head coach Nick Saban should be offering incentives to the Sooners if they knock off OK State.
