NBA's "Destined For Stardom" Players
Every season there is always a select few of talented players that rise from average to stardom. They normally come into the NBA season with a positive mindset and develop throughout the year into an NBA All-Star. These gifted players experience a major improvement in their play and command the respect that they deserve. Below is a list of extremely intelligent basketball players with a rare talent that ordinary people do not possess.
Devin Harris (PG, NJN) Devin Harris came into this season averaging a career 10.14 PPG, 3.71 APG, 2.18 RPG, in four seasons. Boy oh boy, are those days in the past! Devin is currently averaging 23.90 PPG (sixth best in the league), 6.10 APG (14th best in the league), and 3.40 RPG, in 20 games this season. He has clearly given himself a name around the entire league as he is the best scoring point-guard in the NBA.
Reason for improvement: Devin Harris began averaging more minutes per game last season when he was traded to the Nets. This season he is averaging 36.2 MPG (the most he has ever averaged) and is in commanding charge of the point-guard position in New Jersey.
For four seasons Devin was used to being the back-up point-guard in Dallas; the reason for Devin’s improvement is due to his averaged minutes per game and change of scenery in New Jersey. He is destined for stardom.
Chris Duhon (PG, NYK) In 24 games this season Chris Duhon is averaging career numbers in MPG(39.8, second most in the league), PPG(11.8), APG(8.5, fourth most in the league), RPG(4.0), SPG(1.1), and FT%(87.7%). Duhon’s assists per game average puts him up with the most elite point-guards in the NBA including Chris Paul, Deron Williams, and Jose Calderon. Duhon has made a name for himself this season and continues to impress the NBA and fans every single game.
Reason for improvement: Duhon averaged 29.1 MPG during his sophomore season and put up decent numbers. It was not until this season that Duhon’s average increased since his sophomore year. Joining the New York Knicks and Head Coach Mike D’Antoni’s run-and-gun offense explains the reason for such great improvement from Chris Duhon. Duhon will do nothing but improve for the rest of his career in New York.
Rojon Rando (PG, BOS) Last season Rondo was known around the league as just a normal average point-guard that played for the Boston Celtics. He made a little name for himself during the course of the playoffs and into the NBA Finals where he averaged around 10.2 PPG, 6.6 APG,4.1 RPG, and 1.7 SPG, but it was not until this season that Rondo finally made a name for himself amongst the Celtics Big Three.
In 25 games this season Rondo is averaging career highs in PPG (10.9), APG (7.36, eight best in the NBA), RPG (5.0), and SPG (2.28, third most in the league).
Reason for improvement: Rondo’s reason for improvement is due to the presence of legends. Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Ray Allen are all Hall of Famers and have a rare insight for the game that many NBA players do not have. They have the ability to teach and improve Rondo’s game just by simply playing their own game on the court.
Rondo is just in his third season in the league and plays like a player that is in his prime. Rondo’s environment has helped his basketball talent and knowledge sky-rocket from average to stardom. Rajon will be around for years to come with the expectancy to improve into one of the best point-guards in the league.
What do you think? Do you think these players are destined for stardom?
