Jerry Sandusky Scandal: Penn State Road Games Will Put Focus Back on Football
The disgusting and vile Jerry Sandusky scandal that has rocked Penn State is not going to be soon, if ever, forgotten.
However, the coverage surrounding these shocking allegations should hopefully soon cool down and the Nittany Lions can concentrate on finishing their season strongly, even without longtime coach Joe Paterno.
Penn State is still very much alive in the Big Ten race despite failing to complete its comeback against Nebraska in its final home game on Saturday.
The Nittany Lions are one game ahead of the Wisconsin Badgers for first place in the Leaders division and finish the season with a highly anticipated matchup at Camp Randall.
The Nittany Lions will first need to get past the Ohio State Buckeyes this weekend in Columbus.
Ohio State is a proud program having a down year after being rocked by scandal, although of a much lesser severity. The school is still fielding a competitive football team and will not roll over for anyone.
If Penn State can beat the Buckeyes this coming weekend, it will do a lot to quiet the talk about how the football team is in complete disarray following the dismissal of Joe Pa.
While obviously that move is having a profound effect on the Nittany Lions, they aren’t completely lost without their coach of 46 years, and the team still has a lot of heart and a lot to prove.
By winning out against their next two opponents on the road, PSU will find itself in the inaugural Big Ten championship game, where it would face either Michigan State, Michigan or Nebraska for the right to go to the Rose Bowl.
If Penn State makes and perhaps even wins the Rose Bowl, as unlikely as that sounds after the Sandusky scandal, it would do wonders to help heal the program and turn the focus back to football and off those horrible allegations.
