Bowl Projections: Oregon Set To Badger Wisconsin in Rose Bowl
After defeating Stanford on Saturday, 53-30, the Oregon Ducks have now won nine straight games after losing their first game of the season against No. 1 LSU.
Now the No. 4 team in all the land, the Ducks appear set for the Rose Bowl.
The question remains, who will join them?
The answer will come when No. 17 Wisconsin potentially faces No. 15 Michigan State in the Big Ten title game.
After losing to the Spartans, 37-31, on a Hail Mary on Oct. 22, the Badgers have been itching to get a crack at their division foes ever since. Wisconsin was ranked No. 6 in the nation before that fateful day, and it took a prayer from MSU quarterback Kirk Cousins to devastate the Badgers.
The stats for Wisconsin speak for themselves. Save for the two straight letdowns against Michigan State and Ohio State, the Badgers have been dominant. They rank fourth in points per game, sixth in points allowed per game and 10th in rushing yards per game. Add in quarterback Russell Wilson's brilliance (25 TDs, three INTs), and you have a complete team.
That's why a potential matchup with Oregon would be so eye-catching, two elite offenses pitted against each other and two defenses that have shown that they can play big against top competition.
Wilson and Darron Thomas, Montee Ball and LaMichael James, there are plenty of explosive playmakers on these two squads.
In the end, I see the Ducks offense being too much for the Badgers and their defense coming up with some big turnovers like against Stanford.
Oregon will win the 2012 Rose Bowl.
