BCS Rankings Week 12: Oregon and Teams That Got Cheated in Latest Standings

David DanielsNov 13, 2011

If you haven’t come to expect multiple BCS travesties each and every week, you must live under a rock.

The computer fails more times than it succeeds in doing its job.  Fans of teams on this list will be begging for a playoff because their squad most likely won’t receive the bowl bid that they’re deserving of.  Here are three teams that were cheated in the Week 12 rankings.

3. Kansas State

K-State is ranked No. 13 while South Carolina is No. 12.  The only two teams that the Wildcats lost to all season long are Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.  They only lost by seven to the Cowboys too, the No. 2 team in the nation.

Arkansas slaughtered the Gamecocks 44-28 and Auburn defeated them as well in South Carolina.  Their only quality win occurred against Georgia early in the season while the Wildcats beat Baylor, Miami and Texas A&M.

2. Houston

Boise State always complains about being cheated out of a national championship bid when they’re undefeated, but after a loss to TCU, the Broncos are now ranked ahead of the undefeated Houston Cougars.  Well isn’t that ironic?

Houston is at No. 11 in the latest polls while Boise State, somehow, someway is still in the top 10.  Sure, the Broncos win over Georgia is more impressive ranking wise than any the Cougars can boast, but don’t tell the teams Case Keenum and company are dropping over 70 points on that Houston can’t ball.  The Cougars are perfect and the Broncos aren’t with a weak schedule—simple as that.

1. Oregon

Oregon deserves to be ranked ahead of Alabama.  They share a common opponent in LSU so it shouldn’t be difficult to see that the Ducks are more worthy.  While the Tigers dominated the Ducks' defense, they equally shut down the Crimson Tide’s offense.

Not the spread, but what point in the year LSU beat them is truly the difference between the two teams.  Oregon faced the Tigers in Week 1 and LaMichael James went down with an injury in the game.  While the Ducks are a totally different ball club from the one that lost in their season debut, the Crimson Tide lost to LSU just over a week ago.

Here are the updated BCS standings:
