UFC on FOX Results: 5 Things We Want to See at UFC on FOX II
UFC on FOX I will go down as one of the biggest events in the history of mixed martial arts.
It's fair to say that the UFC and the FOX Network exceeded many expectations but also provided many fans with mixed emotions.
While it was the UFC's first broadcasting television appearance, it certainly won't be the last.
And, while the UFC will continue to grow through its expansion with FOX, so will its expectations.
So, the following slides display five things we want to see at UFC on FOX II
Let's take a look.
Another Title Fight
1 of 5UFC on FOX I was one of the most anticipated fight cards in the history of the sport of mixed martial arts.
And, a major reason for this anticipation was based solely on the opportunity of seeing a heavyweight title fight between two of the UFC's hardest hitters.
While UFC on FOX II certainly won't be another heavyweight title fight, any championship bout will attract UFC fans across the globe.
A title fight is a must on UFC on FOX II.
More Fights
2 of 5While it's hard to deny just how exciting the short lived UFC on FOX I was, there was only one fight for fans and viewers to engage in.
Arguably the best fight of the night came right before the UFC made their broadcasting television debut when Clay Guida and Ben Henderson squared off in a lightweight matchup.
And, while the main event of the evening was more than exciting, it only lasted a little over a minute.
More fights will allow viewers to become more appreciative of the sport and ultimately provide more entertainment.
A Longer Main Event
3 of 5While the main event of the evening between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos was one of the more entertaining bouts of the evening, it was also the quickest.
In fact, just 64 seconds into Round 1, Dos Santos connected on a huge right hand that sent Velasquez to the ground.
But, that was the only fight many viewers got to witness, as the FOX Network chose to air just one fight.
And, if we're being honest with one another, not many fans expected the title fight to last much longer than a round or two.
UFC on FOX II needs a main event that has the likelihood of going past the first round.
A Larger Main Card
4 of 5Similar to adding "more fights" to the next UFC on FOX event, there certainly needs to be more main card bouts.
It was one of the first times in UFC history that a fight card consisted of just one main card fight but had nine preliminary bouts.
And, while UFC on FOX I was certainly a hit for viewers across the globe, the FOX Network is more likely to attract fans if they are advertising a larger main card.
So, UFC on FOX II will need at least four to five main card fights.
A Larger Household Name
5 of 5While Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos were certainly two well-known names for UFC fans across the globe, not everyone knew who they were.
Therefore, when UFC on FOX airs its second event in the first quarter of 2012, they need to put a focus on a bigger household name.
The FOX Network is likely to attract many more fans through the names of Brock Lesnar, Anderson Silva or even Chael Sonnen.
So, UFC on FOX II needs to advertise a bigger name in order to attract more viewers.
