Week 10 NFL Picks: 5 Teams That Are Stone-Cold Locks to Win Sunday
Week 10 in the NFL season means that talk of playoffs (playoffs?!) are just around the corner. Soon that old Jim Mora Sr. highlight will be all over SportsCenter and the "if the season ended today" arguments will begin.
Considering how close we're coming to those days, every team realizes that getting wins is crucial at this time. Here are five teams that are a lock to find themselves one better in the win column heading into Week 11.
Jacksonville Jaguars
1 of 5All that talk about playoff implications and then I transition to the Jacksonville Jaguars, weird I know. That being said it's not like J-Ville have been getting blown out of the water like their Week 10 opponents, the Indianapolis Colts.
The Jaguars only have one loss by 10 or more points this season, which dates back to Week 2 and the Luke McCown days. Running back Maurice Jones-Drew has been having a fantastic season despite opposing defenses stacking the box against No. 32 and the Jaguar defense has been surprisingly stingy, even against teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans.
Indy on the other hand has looked lost without franchise quarterback Peyton Manning, suffering losses to the likes of Cleveland, Tampa Bay and well, every other team they've played so far.
Look for the Jaguars to get the third win of their season come Sunday.
Green Bay Packers
2 of 5If for some reason you're a big fan of watching lopsided football games, then the latest installment in the Green Bay Packers/Minnesota Vikings rivalry is just for you!
Christian Ponder has looked competent and at times impressive since taking over for Donovan McNabb at quarterback, and Adrian Peterson is a one man wrecking crew, but the firepower that Green Bay brings to the table on offense is just too much for the Vikes.
Considering the Packers' defense has been in a fight with the New England Patriots unit to prove which is worse, there's a chance that the Vikings make the box score look respectable, but it'll be thanks to the fact they'll be playing in garbage time by the middle of the second quarter.
Dallas Cowboys
3 of 5I know, I know, the Dallas Cowboys' 2011 season and the word "lock" don't exactly go together so far, but they couldn't have found themselves facing the Buffalo Bills at a better time.
For the first time since the early days of Marion Barber in Dallas, the Cowboys find themselves with a rushing attack opposing defenses must respect thanks to rookie DeMarco Murray.
The high flying Cowboy offense will be without Miles Austin, but Laurent Robinson has been playing opposite Dez Bryant for the majority of the season due to Austin's nagging hamstring injury.
The Bills are coming off their first home loss of the season thanks to the New York Jets and now find themselves traveling to Dallas Cowboys Stadium with Dallas coming off a much needed victory against Seattle.
Despite their blowout loss to the Eagles just a few weeks ago, this Cowboys team is starting to finally look complete just at the time where the early season heroics in Buffalo are starting to fade.
Philadelphia Eagles
4 of 5Speaking of the Philadelphia Eagles, they must be overjoyed to find themselves playing John Skelton and the Arizona Cardinals tomorrow.
After taking it to Dallas at Lincoln Financial Field two weeks ago, the media was back on the Philly bandwagon that they had jumped off around Week 4. Then the Eagles went out and lost to the Chicago Bears.
The Bears game was close throughout, no question, but one could argue that coming off such a huge victory against a division rival, Philly should have had no issues with Chicago.
Instead they head into their matchup with the Cardinals at 3-5, just one game better than their opponents. Regardless of whether or not the Eagles' season is already over, this game should at least make their fans happy for another week.
Expect Philadelphia to play more like the team that showed up against Dallas this week and rout Arizona.
Denver Broncos
5 of 5I'm not on the Tim Tebow bandwagon, and the Broncos have done nothing but disappoint this year but they're coming off a huge win against the Oakland Raiders.
Denver will be playing with motivation, hoping to keep pace with the Silver and Black in the AFC West title race, most likely leaning on the legs of Willis McGahee and the decision making of Tebow.
Just when it seemed the Kansas City Chiefs were finally turning their season around, they went out and got destroyed by the then winless Miami Dolphins...in Arrowhead Stadium.
Arrowhead is arguably one of the most difficult stadiums to win as a road team and Miami made that statement look like some sort of football myth.
KC will find themselves in the same stadium they lost to the Dolphins in last weekend while the Broncos come in off their biggest win of 2011. I'll take the Broncos in what should be an interesting game at the very least.
