Rey Mysterio and Some of the Quickest Feet in Wrestling

David LevinNov 16, 2011

Strength and power are not the only attributes that carry a wrestler through to victory.

Speed, agility, endurance...they all have a factor in how a wrestler gets the crowd to react and how the opponent responds to these actions.

Quick feet and movement help as well.

While a good script and a great sell-job by an opponent helps entertain the crowd, it really is up to the two men in the squared-circle to make it happen. Take that, Gordon Solie.

While we look to larger, more muscular men, the smaller, more agile and quicker wrestlers have proven to be just as exciting over the years.

Here is a look at some of them.

Austin Aries

1 of 16

The arrogant SOB and current X-Division Champion in TNA is strike-quick kind of guy.

You need to have quick feet and movement to be able to sell what Aries is selling night in and night out.

Evan Bourne

2 of 16

When he returns to the WWE, there is no reason to think Bourne won't continue to show why he is one of the quickest wrestlers in the business today.

Fast, agile, mobile and sometimes hostile.

Bourne is a perfect blend of speed and charisma.

Justin Gabriel

He is caught in a numbers game in the WWE.

Gabriel could be so much more than he is right now.

He is compact, has a great look and tremendous speed.

And what he does off a top rope is spectacular.

Zima Ion

Once we saw him compete in the X-Division contract match at Destination X, we knew he was special.

Ion is a little lanky, but his speed is undeniable and his foot work is something to watch.

Hopefully, he will get a real push in TNA after the new year.

Brian Kendrick

"The Wizard of Odd" is such a great worker. He is lightning-quick, agile and moves in the ring like a cat.

His moves defy logic. While he is unorthodox in style, he is certainly a crowd favorite.

Kofi Kingston

6 of 16

He and Evan Bourne have made a great team.

Kingston is equally agile and cat-quick.

His feet never sit still and his ability to use his feet and legs to hurt his opponents is a huge advantage.

Jushin Thunder Liger

7 of 16

While we all love him for the Moonsault, Liger's ability to move around the ring at lightning speed served him well.

His feet allowed him to pull off some amazing victories in WCW.

John Morrison

8 of 16

Morrison is the most agile man in the WWE right now, and those feet serve him well to make quick moves in and out the ring.

They also cause him great pain as he inflicts just as much damage to his own body as he does to his opponents, more often than not.

CM Punk

9 of 16

Versed in many wrestling styles, Punk uses his quick feet and leg work just as much as anyone.

He runs up ropes, jumps off turnbuckles and makes opponents pay for allowing him an inch, because Punk know he can take a mile.

Rey Mysterio

10 of 16

Mysterio moves around a ring like he owns it. He knows exactly where to go to make the right move.

Most of the time, it pays off.

Never before has there been a wrestler with so much electricity with every move he makes.

RVD

11 of 16

The "Whole F'ing Show" is the showstopper on TNA. He has no limits, and his flexibility makes any man cringe in pain.

The Five-Star Frog Slash is still one of my favorite moves.

Motor City Machine Guns

12 of 16

As a tag team, they are lightning-quick.

As singles competitors, they are lightning-quick.

That spells trouble for anyone who wants to face them in the ring.

Sin Cara

13 of 16

He leaps through the air with the greatest of ease.

Sin Cara is truly a sight to be seen.

I would love to see a feud between him and Rey Mysterio.

Tajiri

14 of 16

Some of the things he did over the years cannot be described.

He was a human wrecking machine.

He is flexible and lightning-quick.

A feud with Rey Mysterio would have been great to see.

Ultimo Dragon

15 of 16

He could do it all overseas and in WCW.

When he came to the States, there was nothing he could not accomplish.

Quick, with tremendous foot speed. He was a top that could not stop spinning.

The Great Muta

16 of 16

I have to throw this one in for old times' sake.

Muta had tremendous foot speed and foot work. He was very underrated for his power he had in his legs.

While his karate and arms were the focal point of his offense, his feet were the thing that made him gain advantages in his matches.
