WWE Survivor Series 2011: 5 Things That Should/Should Not Happen

A.D. Christian VitaleNov 14, 2011

As the WWE Universe gears up for one of the most hyped pay-per-views of the year, many are curious as to what might occur.

Today, I am going to list five things that should happen and five things that should not happen.

These predictions are based off of the current WWE product. This list is in no particular order.

What Should Happen: A Main Event Opens the Show

1 of 11

Often times, fans can tell how 90 percent of the show will turn out within the first 30 minutes.

What do I mean by this?

Between the opening match, the first promo and the order of the card, you can tell what aspects will play a huge role in the pay-per-view.

For this pay-per-view to start off strong, it needs a high-profile match to kick it off.

A high-profile match includes a five-on-five tag match or a title match.

This opening match needs to be 15-20 minutes, and it needs to get the crowd pumped up.

What Should Not Happen: Promo Followed by Mid-Card Matches

2 of 11

What's one way the WWE could kill the first 45 minutes of a pay-per-view?

I'll tell you.

If the WWE decides to put all of their mid-card matches at the beginning of the show, then fans will show zero energy.

This pay-per-view is its one shot to gain a HUGE fanbase that it has lost during the PG Era. The WWE should be using its TV time wisely.

What Should Happen: Wrestling Gets Priority

3 of 11

I know the WWE likes to stay away from the term "wrestling," but we all know this needs to happen.

Promos should be done for two reasons: to give a brief intermission between matches and to hype later matches.

Promos are not supposed to be fillers.

What I do not want to see is a superstar receive a five-minute promo because the WWE did not manage to put them in a match.

What Should Not Happen: Someone Is Left off of the Card

4 of 11

Survivor Series 2011 is a make or break moment for the WWE to garner in older fans.

With that being said, it should be all hands on deck!

Every superstar should continue in some way. Whether that is in a PPV match, a backstage promo or in a dark match.

What Should Happen: Established Stars Take a Loss

5 of 11

It does not matter how many times Cody Rhodes defeats Randy Orton on WWE TV. If Rhodes cannot make a statement at the pay-per-view, there is no point to him having the match.

Stars like John Cena, Triple H, The Rock, Randy Orton and Big Show DO NOT need the victory.

If they lose, they can easily bounce back with a single victory.

A loss for people like The Miz, R-Truth, Dolph Ziggler and Cody Rhodes puts them months away from being credible again.

We need to see these up-and-coming stars win, which means: Alberto Del Rio retains the WWE Championship, Team Barrett defeats Team Orton, Mark Henry defeats Big Show and Awesome Truth defeats John Cena and The Rock.

What Should Not Happen: WWE Lets the Rock Win

6 of 11

Yes, The Rock is coming back to the ring.

Yes, The Rock is a legend.

Yes, The Rock has millions of fans.

Does that mean that he should return and crush Awesome Truth?

The answer is quite simple: NO.

The Rock's purpose for returning is to prep for his match against John Cena. That's it.

What Should Happen: WWE Surprises Fans

7 of 11

What is the No. 1 way the WWE can surprise us?

Yes, they can give CM Punk the WWE Championship like Money in the Bank. But what about an even bigger way?

Bring someone back!

Mick Foley, Kevin Nash, Undertaker and Kane are all expected to make pay-per-view returns at some point.

With all of the variety of feuds these legends can be put into (minus Kevin Nash, he's stuck with Triple H), it could make a huge impact.

What Should Not Happen: The Main Event Carries the Only Surprise

8 of 11

Just imagine...

It is Survivor Series, and fans are expecting the best pay-per-view since Money in the Bank.

The first hour goes by and nothing exciting happens.

The second hour goes by and nothing exciting happens.

Finally in the last 10 minutes of the show, the WWE gives us a small gift by letting us see the return of The Rock in the ring.

If the WWE did that, I would personally call Vince and tell him Creative has lost it.

What Should Happen: Cena/Rock Feud Causes Loss

9 of 11

We all know that Awesome Truth will not win cleanly against two of the biggest names of all time.

However, we can assume that Cena/Rock will not lose because of a simple trick done by Awesome Truth.

It's going to take a betrayal by either Cena or Rock that will cause Awesome Truth to get an upper hand and claim a victory.

This does two things for the WWE.

It legitimizes Awesome Truth as a credible threat and, most importantly, it adds something new to the feud between Cena and Rock.

What Should Not Happen: No Interference in the Main Event

10 of 11

Ever since Money in the Bank, every main event has seen someone run in. I understand that it leaves fans with questions, but the issue is those questions are never answered!

John Cena and The Rock vs. Awesome Truth should be the climax moment to everything that has occurred in the WWE for the past several months.

Something has got to give at Survivor Series.
