Kutcher Paterno Tweet: Famous Actor Makes Smart Move in Quitting Twitter

Eric BowmanNov 11, 2011

Ashton Kutcher fell victim to tweeting without thinking, which has really picked up since the social media site gained great notoriety.

Several people have gotten on Twitter and said things they probably shouldn't have. If you happen to have over eight million followers then it makes things much more difficult when you screw up.

Such is the case with Kutcher, who tweeted the following statement once he heard that Penn State fired Joe Paterno.

The tweet was later removed, but millions saw it and quickly jumped all over Kutcher for defending Paterno.

After all, Paterno heard that Jerry Sandusky was allegedly using his charity, Second Mile, to molest young boys on Penn State grounds.

In 2002, a graduate assistant witnessed Sandusky in the Penn State showers with a young boy and told Paterno about it, who then told his superiors.

The incident was never reported to the police, and Paterno was fired on Wednesday night.

Kutcher later responded that he didn't have the full story of why Paterno was fired, as he thought it was about the head coach's age and the team's production.

Clearly Kutcher hasn't been paying attention to the news because the Penn State scandal is the biggest one in sports history, and the Nittany Lions are actually 8-1 right now, so their performance on the field isn't an issue.

First famous for That 70's Show, Kutcher issued an apology and tweeted this.

This is a great move by Kutcher because it lets everyone who bashed him earlier know that he is taking this seriously.

He tweeted without thinking, and now he must pay the price.

Further evidence of how sorry Kutcher is came late last night, when he tweeted this photo to his followers.

Let this be a lesson learned for everyone who loves to talk via social media. Never make a strong statement when you don't know all the facts.

Kutcher has over 7,000 tweets, so I fully expect him to be back some day, but for now, he probably won't be updating the feed until further notice, which is a wise decision after his idiotic error.
