Pacquiao vs. Marquez: Why Pac-Man Will Cruise to an Easy Victory
In the third bout between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, Pac-Man will leave no doubt about who won this time.
The first two fights were very close on the judges' scorecards. Marquez won more rounds, but Pac-Man was much more demonstrative, knocking his opponent to the canvas four times in two matches.
The third time around, I'm expecting a thoroughly dominant performance from Pacquiao.
He has been on a bloodthirsty rampage since his split decision victory over Marquez in 2008. He annihilated legend Oscar De La Hoya, knocking the Golden Boy out in the eighth round and sending him into retirement.
Following that he destroyed Ricky Hatton, Miguel Cotto, Joshua Clottey, Antonio Margarito and Shane Mosley with little to no trouble.
All of those fights (and this Saturday's as well) took place in the welterweight division. Pacquiao has had a stranglehold on the division since he moved up to fight De La Hoya.
Conversely, Marquez has had just one fight as a welterweight. That was in 2009, when he was bludgeoned by Floyd Mayweather for 12 painful rounds.
Marquez is a great fighter, but he just wasn't meant to fight at this weight. His biggest strengths are his speed and counter-punching ability. By adding body mass, he neutralizes his two greatest weapons.
Pacquiao is also a much different fighter than when the two met last time. He was very one-dimensional back then, relying on his massive left hand to lead him to victory. Now, he packs devastating power into his right hand as well. He may be the only fighter in the world who can hit equally as hard with his "weak" hand.
This Saturday will be a rough evening for Marquez. I don't think he stands a chance against the younger, faster, stronger and more talented Pacquiao.
I'm predicting Pacquiao to win by knockout in the sixth round.
