Week 10 Fantasy Football Rankings: Ranking the Stud QBs

John RozumNov 10, 2011

With the NFL in the midst of being a pass-oriented league, almost any starting QB at anytime can immediately become enthralled onto the dominant scene.

The odds are obviously in the QBs favor, however, the pressure has increased as well. That said, here are the Top 3 fantasy football QBs in Week 10.

3. Cam Newton, Panthers (vs Titans)

Carolina rookie QB Cam Newton is the exception to the rule when drafting QBs. His uncanny ability combined with arm strength and size makes him arguably one of the better rookie QBs in quite some time.

This week against the Titans, Newton will shred the Tennessee defense of having any confidence. The Panthers ranks are in the Top 10 for both rush and pass offense, so the Titans will be confused early on.

Expect the Panthers to establish a solid ground game, but when it comes time to throw the play-action will be setup nicely. In addition, if Tennessee decides to drop eight or nine defenders in coverage, Newton can still run the ball and run it well.

He actually leads Carolina with seven rushing TDs and averages over five yards per carry on 63 attempts.

2. Matt Schaub, Texans (at Buccaneers)

Houston QB Matt Schaub will have a field day against the underachieving Tampa Bay defense thanks to two dual-threat RBs in the backfield.

Both Arian Foster and Ben Tate are on pace for over 1,000 rush yards and aren't too bad at being reliable check-down targets either. What this does is force the Buccaneers into stacking the box while leaving one-on-one coverage outside.

Now, even though Houston still may be without WR Andre Johnson, Matt Schaub is becoming a better QB and is making his WRs better at the time. Now add TE Owen Daniels who's now their best target and the Bucs' have no shot to defend.

Not to mention Tampa Bay ranks No. 28 against the pass and No. 26 against the rush anyway.

1. Aaron Rodgers, Packers (vs Vikings)

On the year Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has thrown 24 TDs to just three INTs in eight games. He's on pace for throwing over 5,200 yards and has yet to even come close to slowing down.

In Week 7 on the road in Minnesota he threw for 335 yards on 24 completions (only six incompletions) and three TDs. Yeah, that was a road game.

This time around versus the Vikings extremely poor pass defense, Rodgers will one-up himself and keep the cheese rolling to 9-0. The reason for his dominance however, lies in the fact that Minnesota can't throw the ball nearly as well.

So, to get the Vikings out of their gameplan (which is running the ball often with Adrian Peterson), Green Bay has to utilize their biggest strength and go up by a few scores real quick. Then, you force a rookie QB in Christian Ponder to beat you via miraculous comeback as opposed to Peterson who will run the ball all over the field regardless.

The difference however, is that Peterson may get his numbers, but he can't take over the game when Minnesota is down by three scored before halftime.
