Joe Paterno Fired: 5 Predictions for Joe Pa's Future at Penn State
The Penn State situation is getting worse and worse by the day. People are getting fired, players are dropping their commitment to play for the Penn State team and more and more victims are coming out to speak against Jerry Sandusky.
Now that Joe Paterno has been fired from his position as the head coach of the Penn State football program, where does he go from here?
Does he still have his statues on campus, is his name still in the record books, is he allowed back on campus?
All of these things have to be asked, now that Paterno is no longer the face of the Penn State program.
His Name Will Be Taken off of the Library
1 of 5The Joe Paterno Library was built in 1997 after $13.75 million was raised by his wife Sue and himself to help the construction of the building. Paterno himself donated $7 million of his own money for the library.
But as the saga continues and as the school continues to back away from everyone that is involved in this scandal, his name will be taken off of a building that he funded himself.
His Statues Around Campus Will Be Taken Down
2 of 5Coach Paterno is all over the campus of Penn State. For the last 50 years he was Penn State University. But, now after Joe Pa's failure to report what he was told to the authorities, the university will have no choice but to tear down his statues.
Coach Paterno Will Never Coach Again
3 of 5Coach Paterno has almost every college football record in the history books. He has multiple National Titles, multiple Big Ten championships and built the Penn State program to what it is today.
But, because he is 84 years old and because there were constant rumblings of his retiring because of age, there is little to no chance the Paterno will be coaching anywhere else.
His Name Will Not Be Removed from the Record Book
4 of 5Joe Paterno had a great career on the field. He owns the record for most wins at 409. He was with the program since the 1940's and it will be hard to remove him from every single record, or his name from history.
Penn State will remove themselves from Paterno, but it will be hard for college football as a whole to remove themselves from Joe Pa.
Joe Paterno Will Not Sue Penn State
5 of 5We still have no idea what is going on through Joe Paterno's head. All that we know is from the quick statements that he releases from his front lawn. But in every one of those statements, Joe thanks the students who show up and wants the press to just go home.
He looks as if he just wants this to go away, and by not suing the school, the scandal will die down and the media will get off his front lawn.
Joe has done a lot for Penn State in the 50-plus years that he has worked with the school. He doesn't want to hurt the school more than he already has. It's why he will accept his firing and move on with life.
