Western Kentucky vs. LSU: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Radio, Game Time and More

Nicholas GossNov 8, 2011

After No. 1 LSU beat Alabama 9-6 last week, the Tigers established themselves as the best team in America, and on Saturday they will face a non-SEC opponent in Western Kentucky from the Sun Belt Conference.

The Tigers will dominate the Hilltoppers from the opening possession, and for LSU this will be a game where they may be able to rest some starters to keep their stars fresh for the more important games ahead.

Let's look at everything you need to know about this exciting matchup between LSU and Western Kentucky.

Betting Line: LSU by 41.5 (via USA Today)

Large spreads are always tricky, but LSU is a high-scoring team, and even if they sit many of their starters in the second half, the Tigers should be able to cover this spread.

Key Storyline:

Much of the talk surrounding LSU is about their slim overtime victory against Alabama. The Tigers will cruise to an easy victory this week though, and they will quickly turn the page to an important SEC game against Ole Miss on Nov. 19.

Who Might Not Play for Western Kentucky:

Monte Merrick (kicker) is doubtful for Saturday's game against LSU with a hip injury.

Who Might Not Play for LSU:

No major injuries for the Tigers.

BCS/Top 25 Implications:

There isn't anything LSU can gain from a win against Western Kentucky, who is a very weak opponent. A loss would be disastrous for LSU's BCS title hopes, but that won't happen.

Western Kentucky Player To Watch:

Running back Bobby Rainey has 1,169 yards rushing yards and nine touchdowns this season, and could be the only player LSU has to stop on Saturday.

LSU Player To Watch:

Quarterback Jarrett Lee has played well this season and has only thrown three interceptions. He will have a great day against the Hilltoppers on Saturday.

Key Matchup:

The LSU defensive line versus the WK offensive line will be an important matchup for the Hilltoppers. Stopping the Tigers' pass-rush will be crucial to their success this week.

On the Hot Seat:

No one is on the hot seat for either side. LSU will dominate Western Kentucky, and nobody expects anything different.

Prediction: LSU 63, WKU 7

The Tigers will dominate this matchup against Western Kentucky as expected and will look forward to their SEC matchup against Ole Miss on Nov. 19.
