Penn State Press Conference Canceled: Is Joe Paterno out in Happy Valley?
Joe Paterno has coached his last game for Penn State. The cancellation of Tuesday press conference is the first step of Penn State officials orchestrating Joe Pa's departure.
Penn State is coming to the grim realization that the public outcry over the atrocities that have allegedly transpired is too much to allow Paterno, and probably University president Graham Spanier, to continue being employed.
And the legal ramifications are certainly too much to allow Paterno to address the media regarding these issues.
They are treading carefully on some sensitive legal issues, and, according to reports on ESPN's SportsCenter, Paterno was preparing to discuss those.
This led to Penn State spokesman Jeff Nelson making a statement to the over 200 awaiting media members via this letter.
Not long after the cancellation, The New York Times began reporting that Paterno is on the way out.
That tweet makes it look like Paterno will be allowed to continue the season. That is not going to happen. The heat on Penn State in this case is only going to grow. People want to see action by or on those who share in the responsibility, and they want it right now.
Penn State will have little choice but to act in haste. Sweeping changes will come quickly. It is time to pay the devil.
