Jerry Sandusky Scandal: "Grossed-Out" Recruits Will Shun Penn State
Jerry Sandusky may not be directly affiliated with Penn State anymore, but the molestation allegations will have a crippling effect on the Nittany Lions' recruiting front.
Perhaps 5-star recruit Noah Spence said it best, "ewwww."
Ewww is right. While many Penn State recruits aren't going to take to social media to express their disdain, rest assured, it's there.
That isn't to say that all of Penn State's recruits will back off of Penn State, but high-profile recruits like Spence who have their choice of school won't purposefully launch themselves into the child molestation scandal that will come to define the way the program operates in upcoming years.
The people responsible are no longer associated with the program and Joe Paterno is on his way out the door, but this scandal will serve as a black eye that Penn State won't soon shake.
The hopes of landing a high-profile coach like Urban Meyer are out the window. The phenomenal season they are on the verge of closing out is irrelevant.
Penn State is on the verge of falling apart. Many recruits have chosen Penn State because of their great balance of academia and success on the football field, and parents love the way the Nittany Lions have managed to win and still uphold their image and integrity.
All that they have built has been demolished. Lesser recruits will turn the other cheek for the opportunity to play for one of the most prestigious universities in college football history, but nothing is going to put the best of the best in a Nittany Lion uniform.
Ohio State just got a lot more appealing and USC's "cheating" is a distant memory.
