College Football Recruiting 2012: How Will LSU vs. Alabama Shake Up Recruiting?
So there you have it, folks. This season's "Game of The Century" resulted in a 9-6 win by No. 1-ranked over No. 2 Alabama. The Tigers stay on as the top-ranked team in the country while 'Bama "dropped" only to No. 3 in the BCS standings.
Will there be residual effects from the game that affect the recruiting landscape?
Well, I'm going to give you a couple players whose recruitment was affected by the game. These national-level recruits could indeed play a vital role in shaping the outlook of recruiting going forward.
Here they are.
LSU Verbal Toshiro Davis To...Alabama?
1 of 5Based on reading some of his comments after the game, it sounds like Toshiro Davis is really impressed with Alabama. He was at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday night as a guest of the Crimson Tide.
Davis is an LSU commitment, but he is also looking at Texas and Oklahoma, too. He told Scout.com that "Alabama should have won the game," and that "Alabama is awesome. They're one of the best programs in the country."
Interesting words from a player committed to the team Alabama was playing that night.
Davis will take an official trip to Tuscaloosa in January. The Tide may have lost the game, but they might have won the war where an elite DE/LB prospect is concerned.
Does This Mean Winston Sticks It out with Florida State?
2 of 5Jameis Winston is the No. 1-rated QB in America and an Alabama native. He verbally committed to Florida State in the summer and appeared solid.
However, he has taken some unofficial trips to Alabama since then and was on hand for the game Saturday night. The Tide are working him hard to switch his commitment in-state, but with a heartbreaking loss the result of Saturday night's showdown, could that mean Winston indeed stays committed to Florida State?
Only time will tell. This one will be fun to watch unfold before February.
How Did Kwon Alexander Like the Prime Time Look at 'Bama's Defense?
3 of 5I've said for awhile that although Kwon Alexander is the premier OLB in the country, I'm not sure he's a good fit the Crimson Tide's scheme. Yet he likes Alabama and has them in his top five.
Saturday night offered Alexander a great chance to get an up-close look at 'Bama's defensive scheme and see how they do things.
Maybe he liked what he saw and feels he could fit in. Or maybe he came away highly questioning if he can fit in the Tide's base 3-4 defense.
Did LSU Not Only Win SEC West Title but Also Win over a 5-Star Safety Prospect?
4 of 5Landon Collins, the 5-star strong safety prospect from Louisiana, was at the game Saturday night as well. Alabama was hosting him, but the Tide know that prying him from home state power LSU will be inherently difficult.
Collins has said recently that Texas is thick in the race, but he's also said that LSU and Alabama are his top two and he will likely sign with either of those two.
Did LSU not only win the game, the SEC West and a trip to BCS title game, but also the signature of the premier uncommitted strong safety prospect?
How Did Armstead Like His Stay After the Loss?
5 of 5When you are visiting a school of interest and are attending a game, fans are bound to be happy and nice to you beforehand—simply because the game hasn't actually been played yet.
But, like everyone else, people's moods change after a loss.
Did the loss turn Arik Armstead off from Alabama? How did he like the Tide's scheme and projected fit on their 30-front base look? Was Tuscaloosa a flip-side from Northern California culturally?
