If the remaining championship picture was a photograph, it would be a wallet. Out of all the college football teams that entered the 2011 college football season with national championship aspirations, only eight remain. Here are the six teams trying to fight their way into the title game and what needs to happen for them to get there:
Most realistic title path: Blow out LSU and Oklahoma defeat Oklahoma State
Arkansas may be the furthest away now, but all they have to do is shock the world and dominate LSU. They need Oklahoma to win as well, but who doesn’t?
Most realistic title path: Blow out Stanford, Oklahoma barely defeat Oklahoma State, Auburn defeat Alabama.
Oregon lost to LSU by 13 and their national championships hopes are slim to none. Alabama lost to the Tigers by three and are still well in the hunt: the BCS hates the Ducks.
Most realistic title path: Blow out Oklahoma State, Oregon barely defeat Stanford and Auburn defeat Alabama.
If only the Sooners hadn’t choked against Texas Tech. It would take a miracle, Auburn to upset Alabama for them, to get in the big game now.
Most realistic title path: Blow out everybody, Oklahoma defeat Oklahoma State, Auburn defeat Alabama and Oregon defeat Stanford.
It would take a miracle for the Broncos to get into the national championship game. Being perfect doesn’t mean much anymore in college football.
Most realistic title path: Blow out Oregon and Oklahoma defeat Oklahoma State.
A huge win against Oregon should give them the edge in the standings over Alabama. They don’t control their own destiny entirely, though, as like everyone else, they’ll be Sooner fans for a week.
Most realistic title path: Oklahoma defeat Oklahoma State and Oregon keeps it close with Stanford.
The national championship may just turn into the SEC Championship. With just a little help, the Crimson Tide will get their rematch.
