Why San Francisco 49ers, Not Green Bay Packers, Are NFC's Elite Club
The 49ers' success is a bit surprising, but there is no denying that they are playing at a very high level. However, are they the team to beat in the NFC instead of the defending champs?
There could be a case to say that they certainly are.
The Niners feature one of football's best front sevens. We all know about Patrick Willis, but his partner Navorro Bowman is quickly turning into one of the best inside linebackers in the game. Defensive end Justin Smith is playing outstanding, and rookie Aldon Smith is a beast off the edge. The new additions in the secondary, like Carlos Rogers and Donte Whitner, are paying dividends for a team that has struggled in the secondary for several years.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
When comparing defenses, the 49ers have a clear upper hand.
At a glance, the Packers have, clearly, the better offense. But it is a little closer than it may appear.
Alex Smith is certainly no Aaron Rodgers, who is playing better than anyone in football right now. But the 49ers play smart football and can manufacture points in a variety of ways. San Fran certainly has the better running game with Frank Gore and Anthony Dixon. Both teams have excellent tight ends in Jermichael Finley and Vernon Davis.
Look at the resume the 49ers have built this season. They have beaten a lot of very good teams on the road. Had it not have been for Tony Romo's courageous comeback early in the season, the 49ers would be undefeated by now, and this debate sure would have a lot more meaning.
