Week 9 Fantasy Football Start 'Em Sit 'Em: Anquan Boldin and Must-Sit WRs

Patrick ClarkeNov 3, 2011

Wide receivers are often times seen as less critical to fantasy football success because there are more roster spots for them than any other position, but in fact they matter.

Not everyone can own a Calvin Johnson or Wes Welker, guys who are going to get you points week in and week out for the most part, but everyone can make smart roster moves that give their fantasy team the best chance to win.

Be sure to sit these three wideouts in week 9, otherwise prepare to face the consequences:

Anquan Boldin

Boldin has been quarterback Joe Flacco's go-to guy for the past three weeks, catching 19 balls in three games. Sadly, that will not fly against the Pittsburgh Steelers' fast-improving pass defense.

The Baltimore Ravens' offense has look confused far too often this season, and Boldin's production will take a hit going up against the No. 1 ranked fantasy pass defense.

Steve Johnson

The talented and young Bills' wide receiver is up against a tall task in the New York Jets' pass defense, ranked second in fantasy pass defense in ESPN fantasy leagues.

Johnson will likely be shadowed by cornerback extraordinaire Darelle Revis on Sunday, which means Buffalo quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will have his eyes and targets elsewhere in Week 9.

Nate Washington

The Tennessee Titans receiver is facing a tough Week 9 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals' defense, which is seventh in fantasy pass defense this season.

Washington is coming off his best fantasy producing week since Week 3 against the Denver Broncos, but don't expect him to get a lot of targets in Nashville on Sunday; he has caught only two touchdowns all season.
