Ohio State Football: Braxton Miller's Miracle Play Came From "Playground" Route
Last Saturday, Ohio State true freshman quarterback stunned Wisconsin (and everybody in the 'Shoe, for that matter) by orchestrating an unprecedented and highly unlikely play to put the Badgers away.
And by the look of it, it seemed as if we were watching a backyard football game.
“We were scrambling … and they didn’t give us a play or nothing,” sophomore receiver Corey "Philly" Brown said, according to the Columbus Dispatch. “So we’re out there just running playground routes. I think I ran a deep out or something like that. And Braxton said he pointed at me to get the safety to run over (so he could) throw it to Devin. So on his part, that was like a veteran move.”
Brown added that freshman wideout Devin Smith was the only one that did as told during the ridiculous 40-yard pass play from an on-the-move Miller.
Good thing one of those young Bucks knew what was going on, because the entire Badger defense didn't (nor did I). Miller connected with Smith for their fourth end zone hookup this season.
“I just think we were so, like, into the moment our emotions kind of took over and we weren’t really listening to anybody,” Brown said. “We were just trying to hustle. I think there was only one wideout, which was Devin, who got the real play.”
For how hectic Ohio State's year has been, it only seems fitting that it'd beat Russell Wilson and company on a play that resembled the same.
