WWE: 10 Reasons Dolph Ziggler Will Always Be a Mid-Carder

Kyle SymesNov 1, 2011

"Hi, I'm Dolph Ziggler."

If you don't know anything about Dolph, just ask; he's more than happy to tell you.

Ziggler is as cocky as they come and for someone who's been given a pretty decent-sized push as of late, you'd expect him to be headlining shows. Unfortunately, Ziggler just can't find a way to break into the mainstays of the upper level.

Dolph Ziggler may seem to fit a main eventer's qualifications, but DZ will be stuck at the mid-card level for the foreseeable future.

10. His Gimmick Doesn't Set Him Apart

1 of 10

Dolph's gimmick and look fail to separate him from the rest of the pack.

He's a blond-haired arrogant individual. Don't be concerned if you confuse that angle with someone else. Even when Ziggler tried to be "the new and improved Ziggler," he quickly went back to the blond hair.

Ziggler needs to add something different to his gimmick to prevent him from becoming stale. The blond-haired bully can only take him so far.

9. His Finishers Need Work

2 of 10

Perhaps worse than Dolph's mic work are his finishing moves.

Since arriving to the WWE, Dolph has used a sleeper hold, a superkick and a reverse bulldog.

A sleeper hold? Didn't know that was "finisher material." The reverse bulldog is nothing more than a hair pull, something WWE divas do in every match.

I'll give him credit for using a legitimate finisher with a superkick but Dolph needs to create a unique finisher to call his own.

8. He Has a Manager

3 of 10

Think of all the stars you would consider main event material. All of them minus Alberto Del Rio don't have a manager.

A manager is someone who's supposed to help get the young superstar over. Vickie Guerrero has more than done that for Dolph.

If he wants to break free from the mid card level, he needs to venture out on his own.

7. He's Involved in Some Dumb TV Spots

4 of 10

I'm not sure what Ziggler has done behind the scenes to warrant some of the embarrassing spots he's been in, but he should make some quick apologies.

From the Spirit Squad to the Muppets, Dolph has been in some bad spots.

His "broken jaw" at the hands of Hugh Jackman only adds more laughter to the name of Dolph Ziggler. DZ can't make it to the top if he's getting his jaw broken by actors and twisting Muppet arms around.

6. He Seems Content to Be a Mid-Carder

5 of 10

As far as I can tell, Dolph seems pretty content to be a mid-carder.

We haven't seen any reports to indicate he's voiced his displeasure with how his character is used. You can't really blame him since he's been given a sizable push as of late, but eventually that will run out and he'll be back to doing nothing.

How can we expect Ziggler to live up to our expectations if he doesn't want to strive for something more than a US Championship reign?

5. Alberto Del Rio

6 of 10

Alberto Del Rio is Raw's main heel. He's also the WWE champion.

Given Del Rio's recent push, we are either in line for a lengthy title run or to watch him attempt to regain the title.

After Del Rio, The Miz and R-Truth fill the next void as Raw's main villains.

This leaves no space for another bad guy to make his way up the ladder. I'm not saying the Raw brand is "stacked," but the heel side is certainly crowded. Ziggler can't do anything to raise his stock high enough to warrant replacing any of the three men listed above.

4. The WWE Creative Team

7 of 10

Doing a google search for "WWE creative team" results in this being the first image to pop up.

It's pretty easy to see that the WWE creative team isn't performing to the best of their ability. They've squandered a lot of storylines this year and routinely rely on the main stars they have now.

The WWE writers don't seem to have a clue at times, which no doubt will hinder any mid-carder's chances at breaking into main event level.

3. He Has No Credibility

8 of 10

Dolph Ziggler has no real credibility as main-event guy.

Whenever he does make a title defense, he usually wins via some form of interference. If he could defend his title or win a match without some outside help in the finish, it would help restore some of his credibility.

Losing to a team with Snooki on it at Wrestlemania and having the second shortest World Title reign in WWE history will be hard to work back from.

I know heels are supposed to cheat to win, but should Dolph Ziggler really need to cheat against someone like Zack Ryder?

2. His Partnership with Jack Swagger

9 of 10

Dolph's recent partnership with Jack Swagger leaves him in a no-win situation.

Not only does it prevent Ziggler from progressing as a singles competitor, but the ending to their alliance doesn't help Ziggler.

Either Ziggler will turn face by attacking Swagger or he will lose to Swagger. Neither outcome helps Ziggler.

His character works better as a heel, and who's going to take someone seriously who loses to Jack Swagger these days?

1. His Manager Gets More Heat Than He Does

10 of 10

"Excuse me!"

Those two words get more boos from a WWE crowd than Dolph Ziggler gets in a month.

Having Vickie at his side has been very productive for Ziggler. But she has done her job a little too well, as she routinely gets more heat from the fans than Dolph does.

Ziggler needs to find a way for fans to dislike him and not his manager if he wants to get main-event matches.
