Ronnie from Jersey Shore and the 13 Wackiest Reality Show Wrestling Appearances

Imaan JalaliNov 1, 2011

In the last five years, there's been an on-and-off marriage between reality TV stars and pro-wrestling.

In most cases, the relationship is quid pro quo—the wrestling company garners exposure and the reality stars reap the marketing and promotional rewards.

In some cases, the reality star is a wrestling fan, honored to be part of the action.

The most recent reality star to enter the fray is Ronnie from the Jersey Shore.

According to WrestleInc.com, he will make two appearances for TNA Wrestling.

Ronnie is an example of one who is a lifelong fan—very aware and respectful of the drive and pain wrestling entails.

He and several others before him have appeared in both WWE and TNA.

When wrestling and reality stars have mixed, the result has always been entertaining, if not ridiculous.

Fans around the world have described the merging as surreal, eyebrow-raising, absurd and even plain stupid.

I call it wacky fun.

Let's recall the 13 wackiest wrestling moments involving reality stars!

Commence the wackiness!

Verne Troyer

1 of 13

Mini Me! Yes, the same crazy drunk on The Surreal LIfe.

The pint-sized, adorable creature graced the Raw airwaves as the guest GM in November 2009.

In a very wacky scene, Troyer starts droning on about what a wonderful experience the WWE has been for him.

The wrestlers and staff, Verne remembers, were all very nice except for one guy.

That dweeb was The Miz, who is compelled to come out and heave midget jokes at the smallest ladies' man in the world.

Verne is not impressed and invokes his GM power to bring out the "World's Strongest Man," who growls menacingly at the "awesome" one.

After stuttering his words and looking dumbfounded at the scope of it all—from his seat at the front of the ramp—Troyer puts The Miz in his place and makes a match between the two.

It is a moment that will live on forever.

The Miz

2 of 13

The Miz is the greatest success story ever to come out of the swirling garbage disposal of reality TV.

The surreality of overcoming his low-grade background to become an established part of WWE programming qualifies as wacky.

He made so many appearances on The Real Worldand its offshoot creations—that MTV might as well have stood for Miz TV during that time.

Since barreling through Tough Enough, another reality show, The Miz has become tag team, United States and WWE Champion and a Money in the Bank winner.

His crowning moment as a WWE Superstar is wrestling in the main event of WrestleMania 27 against John Cena in a match that will go down as the one of the biggest duds in the event's history.

Since then, he's bounced back as one half of "Awesome Truth," a team that has put fear into the hearts of every Raw and Smackdown wrestler.

He has a chance to redeem himself in a tag bout involving the most anticipated return in the last decade at Survivor Series—The Rock.

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne

3 of 13

In November 2009, The Osbournes were guest hosts of Raw.

In fact, they were very entertaining, even if Ozzy was a little slow on the uptake.

Granted, he had Triple H and The Big Show to help him in an amusing opening segment that had the wrestlers whisper in Ozzy's ear about which matches to make for the night. In actuality, it was a sly way to feed the hard rocker his lines.

The highlights include an absurd double-shot of book shilling ("I Am Ozzy" and "The Unauthorized History of DX"), and "Raw's Got Talent" hosted by the Osbournes and The Great Khali, culminating in Jillian Hall getting slapped by Sharon and Chavo Guerrero getting "Jack Splashed" by Hornswoggle.

And one must not allow the memory of Chris Masters tuning his pecs to the beat of one of Ozzy's songs to fade.

The Prince of Darkness never laughed so hard!

Jonny Fairplay

4 of 13

Jonny Fairplay is the same despicable human being who pretended his grandmother died on Survivor in order to advance in the game.

Yet, that cowardly personality of his translated beautifully to the wrestling ring, when in 2004 he made his TNA debut against AJ Styles.

In short order, though, the "Phenomenal One" powerbombed him after some disagreement.

Fairplay, however, got revenge by bringing in Lex Luger to oppose Styles, but it was not to be for the deplorable one as he later got "press-slammed" by linebacker Brian Urlacher towards the end of his TNA run.

Jonny's heel mannerisms were always on point, fueled by his love of wrestling.

Granted, everything he did bordered on ludicrous, but at least it was in good fun.

Flavor Flav

5 of 13

Flavor Flav was another Raw guest host in May 2010.

His reality show, Flavor of Love, will go down in infamy as perhaps the most preposterous show in TV history.

His romance with the haggard Brigitte Nielsen in particular was upchuck-inducing, akin to a car crash you just can't avert your eyes from.

Unfortunately, years later, Vince McMahon never got the memo that Flav's 15 minutes were finished.

Still, it gave us an epic moment when William Regal was egged on by Flav, Santino and Vladimir Kozlov to "bust a move," or, in other words, string a rap together.

And "boyyyyyyyy" did he.

The last words uttered by Regal's mouth in the presence of the clock-wearing Count will go down as one of the all-time lines in the history of the WWE.

It's so good, I almost can't bear to repeat it because I'm afraid I can't do it justice.

Okay, I relent.

Extremely satisfied with his English rap, Regal exclaimed, "Straight Up Gangsta Trippin."

Angelina (Jersey Shore)

6 of 13

TNA, as we will continue to see, has an obsession with the Jersey Shore cast members. In fact, I'm sure it's all Vince Russo's doing, as he is a New Jersey sympathizer despite being a New Yorker.

Somehow, someway Angelina became a semi-regular on Impact Wrestling, who will be most remembered for pounding Velvet Sky in the face and participating in matches against The Beautiful People.

The wackiest thing about Angelina is her abject wrestling skills. Tazz, the TNA color commentator, had often wondered on air "what the hell is she doing?"

She is one of many reasons why TNA will never be considered a serious threat to the WWE.

Criss Angel

7 of 13

The host and starring performer in Mindfreak made his one and only appearance on Raw as the special guest GM in March 2010.

It was completely surreal to see Angel amble down to the ring and speak to the fans in a completely serene state that defied any hint of passion for wrestling.

Most fans could only see the lower half of his face as the upper portion was covered by the downward tilt of his black cap. To this day, many wonder if the magician was napping.

Nonetheless, his appearance led to the very rare occurrence of a knife being shown on WWE TV.

In a magic trick with Santino as his witness, Angel told the Italian to conceal the sharp knife under one of three Styrofoam cups.

Angel slammed his bare palm down on one, leaving a 50-50 chance of getting skewered.

Luckily, Angel's hand lived to throw up peace signs for another day.

The best part of his night on that particular Raw, however, was Angel's use of "black magic" to shut Jillian up.

Kevin Federline

8 of 13

Many may not know this, but K-Fed starred in a reality show called Chaotic, chronicling his courtship with Britney Spears, who later became his wife.

In 2006, Mr. Spears and John Cena engaged in a mini-feud of sorts.

During a war of words to decide who is a better poseur, Federline slapped Cena, cost him the "champion of champions" match at Cyber Sunday 2006 and even pinned him. The latter is especially egregious considering John Cena was the reigning WWE Champion at the time.

Of course, in the end, Federline got his comeuppance in the form of two "Attitude Adjustments," but his involvement was one title change away—a la David Arquette in WCW—from being a debacle.

That being said, Federline should've never pinned the WWE Champion. Kowtowing to Hollywood celebrities, let alone reality stars, undermines the wrestlers and the product in general.

Johnny Knoxville

9 of 13

The Jackass star made two notable appearances in WWE.

The first one ended in a botched slam by Beth Phoenix and a head-crushing vise grip by The Great Khali after "The Knox" intimated the Punjab had a small Indian jewel.

In his second appearance as a special guest on Raw, Knoxville made the entire audience chortle uncontrollably after pulling a prank on Zack Ryder, Maryse and Ted DiBiase.

The hijinks ensued after Knoxville surreptitiously placed a contraption attached to a spring, which was tied to a large plastic hand.

The moment Ryder walked toward Knoxville, the hand blasted him, causing the "Broski" to fly sky high and land on his rumpus.

Before we knew it, Dibiase and Maryse were soon sprawling on the floor in a heap after the giant hand sprung into action!

It was the kind of humor that made you take your hand and slap yourself after realizing you giggled watching it.

Steve-O and Pontius (Jackass)

10 of 13

Roughly four years ago, Steve-O and Pontius—Knoxville's sidekicks on Jackass—were tortured on live TV by the late Umaga.

A "spinebuster," kick to the face, a "Samoan splash" and several other devastating moves by the "Samoan Bulldozer" made the live crowd ooh and aah.

Then, the real action happened. Steve-O stopped selling after becoming a sudden victim of laughing gas.

Umaga, who was not pleased, kicked his spine in and chopped his chest off.

Steve-O, who still didn't get the hint, was clubbed in the face—UFC style—then recklessly picked up and dropped on his neck.

This incident marked one of very rare instances when the in-ring action got out of hand inside the squared circle.

J-WoWW

11 of 13

Remember when I mentioned TNA is obsessed with Jersey Shore castmates?

I wasn't kidding.

The much touted appearance of J-WoWW is renowned for her confrontation with TNA Knockout Cookie.

The woman named after a tasty treat, Cookie, belittled the sultry and curvy brunette prior to slapping the Jersey star across the jaw.

WoWW wowed the spectators at the Impact Zone by tackling her adversary to the ground, whacking and walloping the insolent Cookie.

It was the 10,000th cat fight in wrestling.

Consequently, it made no difference in TNA's ratings, which have been stuck at 1.1 since 2004.

Snooki

12 of 13

Suffice to say, the WWE wasn't going to allow TNA to hoard all of the Jersey Shore stars.

In the build-up to WrestleMania 27, Snooki, the special guest Raw GM, became a part of the festivities, which culminated in a match featuring her, Morrison and Trish Stratus against LayCool and Vickie Guerrero.

The diminutive orange goblin, Snooki, displayed her furious side upon being antagonized by Michelle McCool during a Raw before the big event.

She responded by getting physical in the ring, waiting to show off her best stuff at the Georgia Dome where she did a handstand combo into a splash to vanquish the LayCool brats once and for all.

Again, a non-wrestler defeated an established one just for the sake of attracting more WrestleMania buyers, which, even if quantifiable, would be negligible at best.

Jerry Springer

13 of 13

Jerry Springer, who is in some ways the father of reality TV, provided the most ridiculously engaging moments for a star of the reality genre.

In a "Who's the Father?" segment, Kelly Kelly revealed she was pregnant, but didn't know who the "baby daddy" was. Santino, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler all thought they birthed the spawn of Ms. Kelly. Soon, in an illogical twist of events, Chris Masters came out to confirm the strength of his semen before juggling his pecs.

In the blink of an eye, Eve was tossing Kelly by her hair for "messing with her man."

A more cockeyed Jerry Springer-esque moment transpired that night when Mae Young hounded the suave former politician.

The octogenarian's sex drive—after all these years—was on full display as she practically humped the man who arguably was the original inspiration for the ECW/Attitude Era.

Who better than the wizard of wacky reality TV to deliver WWE's wackiest moment?
