WWE: 7 Reasons Dolph Ziggler Is Ready to Be a Main Eventer
Dolph Ziggler is one of the best pure wrestlers in the WWE. His character can generate heat from even the most inattentive of crowds and even welcomes the "heel" persona. Hell, his Twitter name is "@heelZiggler," for crying out loud.
Ziggler has been stuck in the mid-card scene since stepping becoming Dolph "don't call him Lundrgen" Ziggler. Being under the guidance of Vickie Guerrero over on SmackDown and now Raw had allowed Dolph to rise to heights higher than he could have previously imagined.
He's currently on a five month United States title reign, longer than most normal reigns in the WWE.
Eventually, Dolph will lose his championship, if only to set his sights even higher and go after the ultimate prize, the WWE Championship.
Now is as perfect of time as any to allow Ziggler back into the main event picture he was once involved with over on SmackDown.
He's ready for the big time. Actually, he's been ready for a long time.
Here's a few reasons why he is ready for the big time.
His Energy
1 of 8Rarely do you see a heel exert so much energy into his matches.
Ziggler does this to perfection. He's able to show how hard he's fighting, even while letting his inner heel shine through.
Look at that hair and tell me this man isn't a little bit crazy in the ring.
He likes to yell at his opponents, attempting to make them feel inferior in the process.
Putting a guy with the energy level of Ziggler into main event caliber matches would make those high stakes contests even more appealing to watch. Seeing Ziggler truly give it his all in the ring would make for a solid title match.
This video has little relevance to the actual slide, but I think it shows how energetic he can really be.
His Mic Skills
2 of 8Granted, this one is still a work in progress for Ziggler, but he's coming along nicely.
Vickie has done most of the talking for Dolph since their relationship began, leaving him without much need for talking. It is quite possible that Vickie is there to cover up for Dolph's lack of ability, but that is no longer the case.
We rarely get to hear him speak without either Vickie of Jack Swagger interrupting him in some way. When we do, though, Ziggler hasn't sounded horrible. In fact, he's sounded pretty darn good for a guy never allowed to talk.
Give him a mic alone in the ring and he can prove to each and every one of us that he has the vocal ability to succeed.
His Wreslting Ability
3 of 8Ziggler is one of the best in-ring technitions the business has to offer.
He has the background to support it and he's never willing to let us forget how good he is in the ring.
Looking back at his match history, his work speaks for itself.
Put him in a match against the likes of CM Punk for the WWE Championship and you have the recipe for a great match.
His Willingness to Put over Young Stars
4 of 8One of the biggest complaints about main event superstars is their inability to put their egos aside and allow younger talent to flourish.
Ziggler has done just that with his latest feud with Zack Ryder.
Not only did Ryder beat Ziggler, he's beaten Ziggler multiple times.
I dare you to find another superstar at the level of Dolph Ziggler would accept defeat to somebody most see as nothing more than a comedy act.
You won't be able to, cause that person doesn't exist.
Dolph has paid his dues and he's ready to move on.
He'd Make a Convincing Face
5 of 8Picture your average good looking blond with a chiseled body and fancy smile. Normally, that guy would be considered jerk before you even met him.
Add in a full on man tan and you quite possibly have the next big face to come through the WWE.
Dolph has been a heel his entire career. Even when he was a member of the Spirit Squad he was a heel.
No superstar is either a face or heel during his entire career. There will always be some point in time whether they dabble on the other side of the fence.
Ziggler could be that next big face, much like Sheamus is becoming on Smackdown.
Raw needs faces, not named John Cena, to be in their WWE title picture, why not Ziggler.
He's Already Held the Mid-Card Titles More Than Once
6 of 8What's the reason why many people felt Sheamus was pushed to the WWE Championship too fast? Why do most feel Alberto Del Rio should not have held the WWE Championship just after one full year in the company?
Answering that question is quite simple: it's because it was way too rushed. Sheamus reached the top of the business in two months. Del Rio accomplished so many things in just his first year.
Sheamus then paid the price for a premature push and floundered into obscurity for a while. The jury is still out on Del Rio.
Because neither of those two spent any time bouncing around the mid-card scene, they failed to generate any heat or attention from fans because there was still so much we didn't know about them before they were given the grand prize.
Dolph Ziggler, on the other hand, has done more than his fair share in the mid-card championship scene.
Not only has Ziggler won the US championship, the Intercontinental championship and the tag team championships during his tenure, the length of his title reigns is unprecedented.
As mentioned earlier, Ziggler has held the US title for the past five months. He held the Intercontinental title for over five months. These title lengths are almost unheard of in today's WWE, where titles seem to change faster than you can change the channel.
Knowing Ziggler has not only held his own in the lower card, but dominating the scene as a whole, warrants a push for the big time.
He's Already Had Great Success There
7 of 8Give a man a title shot, he can be a success for a day.
Show a man how to operate in a title match, he can be a success for his entire life.
That's exactly the philosophy Edge took with him while he face Dolph Ziggler for the World Heavyweight Championship twice this past winter.
Edge, being the great competitor that he is, combined with Ziggler's ever emerging wrestling ability, and you have main even magic.
The things that these two were able to accomplish in the ring together was amazing. Their match at Royal Rumble would have won Match of the Year had it not been for that pesky John Cena and his match with CM Punk at Money in the Bank. Darn them.
Although his time in the main event scene on SmackDown was short lived, he left his mark. He made people start to notice how great he really is.
Edge may have had something to do with the matches success, but there is no denying that Ziggler was able to hold his own in the match too.
If he can perform with somebody as great as Edge, Ziggler can perform with anybody and make a great match.
That's All Folks
8 of 8There you have it.
Dolph Ziggler is bound to make it to the main event scene on Raw in the very near future as he deserves so.
He's destined to help make Raw's WWE Championship scene even more exciting than it currently is.
What do you think?
Is Dolph Ziggler going to be a main event player?
