WWE News: WWE Officials Upset with Lack of Twitter Response on Monday Night Raw
Unless you’ve been watching Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown with your eyes closed over the last couple of weeks, you’ve probably noticed that the WWE is incorporating Twitter into just about everything—storylines, entrances, announcing, etc.
And it’s only going to get worse.

"It's being said that WWE intends to go even further with promoting Twitter on the air and a big "cross-promotion" down the line has been discussed. This idea would include talent tweeting right before they head out to the arena, and WWE has discussed implementing this come Royal Rumble time.
"
My guess is that this may have something to do with another recent report that has WWE officials freaking out.
"WWE officials were upset with the tepid response towards their Twitter trending efforts Monday night during Raw. No WWE related terms trended until the show’s conclusion, which was only brief.
"
How about this for a response: Who the hell cares?
This is Twitter we’re talking about. Not the actual WWE product. Not storylines. Not pay-per-view buyrates.
Freaking Twitter.
I get that the WWE wants to have this huge presence on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter because they think it will make more people tune into their show, but trending on Twitter isn’t going to accomplish much in the long run.
Remember MySpace? Yeah, that was the social networking site seven or eight years ago, but now, I literally don’t know a soul who has a MySpace page anymore.
Twitter is just like anything else: A trend—see what I did there?—that will eventually wear off.
We’re not going to be more inclined to watch the WWE or visit WWE.com just because Wade Barrett is posting tweets about the “Barrett Uprising” right before he enters the ring before a match on Raw.
If anything, the WWE’s recent Twitter kick is aggravating us to the point where we’re going to change the channel if we hear Michael Cole mention it one more time.
