Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Can the Lions and Matt Stafford silence all the 'Tebow-ers' and rebound from two tough consecutive losses?
Here are five halftime adjustments the Lions should make if they want to get their season back on track.
Load the Box
In the second half the Lions need to step up their rush defense. Their front seven must focus on filling the gaps and making the first tackle. Both of Detroit's losses have come when they were lit up on the ground and in order to get this big road victory, they must stuff the run.
Megatron?
Detroit needs to look to WR Calvin Johnson more in the second half. The Lions' stud receiver is capable to breakout at any moment and Stafford should look to take a shot with him deep in the third and fourth quarters. Johnson should have a slight advantage when single covered by Denver CB Champ Bailey.
Punish Tim Tebow
In hilarious fashion, LB Stephen Tulloch 'Tebow-ed' Tim Tebow.
The Lions have done a pretty solid job of bring constant pressure and putting the Broncos' QB on the ground. For the remainder of the game Detroit must keeping bring the blitz and wait for Tebow to make a stupid mistake.
More Play-Action
The Lions should consider running more play-action in the second half. The Broncos continue to commit heavily to the run and Stafford should be able to look for either Johnson of Scheffler deep with a play fake.
Keep Converting on 3rd Down
The Lions are far too talented of a team of struggle on third down. Over the last two weeks Detroit has only converted 11% of third down attempts. With explosive weapons like Calvin Johnson and Titus Young, the Lions need to focus on getting to third and manageable and converting when it counts. Although Detroit has stepped up in the first half, they need to continue to convert if they want to sustain their lead.
