WWE News: WWE.com Hinting at Return of Hardcore Title?
An article on WWE.com is strongly suggesting the return of the most disheveled-looking piece of tin in WWE history—the Hardcore Championship.
The piece on the website is analogous to a child pleading for candy in the form of sweet and sour confections that temporarily satiate a craving, but are ultimately bad for one's heath.
Sometimes we need that quick fix, be it a batch of deliciously greasy fries or a hot fudge sundae with whipped cream and generous dollops of caramel.

It's what it means to be human—that is, to be flawed.
The Hardcore Championship, an unfortunately bygone relic of the past, is the vice WWE fans wouldn't mind occasionally reveling in, again.
It has brought us a multitude of memories, the most notable being the 24/7 rule in which the title was up for grabs, literally, every second of the day so long as there was a referee present to count to three.
Suffice to say, there were always layers of unpredictability shrouding the Hardcore Title situation.
Sometimes the championship would change so frequently, it would be difficult to keep track of its lineage.
Just about every time, though, it gave us bouts that involved the frequent use of foreign objects in addition to, or in lieu of, wrestling holds.
In many instances, it combined in-ring athleticism and ingenuity with an unrestricted template to give members of the WWE Universe various memorable moments.
Such memories were engineered by natural athletes like Rob Van Dam, who seemed as equally destructive as he seemed graceful, and Mick Foley, who had a platform where he could showcase his brawling style.
No matter what or which weapons were used, they were part of a culture of matches that stood in contrast to the mass-produced WWE formula.
This break in conformity not only appealed to the live audience, but gave the product a more balanced feel and presentation to home viewers.
If the article on WWE.com is any indication, there is likely to be some consideration given to resurrecting a belt that looked as hardcore as it stood for.
After all, every division of the company, including its website, is directly interrelated and answerable to the appointed chief—all funneling back to the WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.
Furthermore, WWE's online domain has been known to divulge information—including storyline advancement, wrestlers' releases, upcoming matches and returns—before its TV counterparts (i.e., Raw and Smackdown).
Thus, it's a safe bet to say there is more than meets the eye than just mere reminiscence about a time and a title that was characterized by volatile unpredictability.
Undoubtedly, the WWE can use a little bit more disorder to poke holes through its overproduced product.
The rebirth of the raggedy Hardcore Championship is a start.
